Overview

The ML was created by Dean Zelinsky in 1977 to be the guitar with ultimate sustain and tone. Created with the Dean concept of spreading the mass of the body over a large area, the MLX electric guitar has something more. Dean believes radical string angles add to the resonance that helps a guitar become more alive. The distinctive headstock creates extra long string length, giving the ML a sound like no other guitar! Played by many of rock's elite over the past two decades, the ML has appeared in award winning videos, on stage and album covers, and more importantly, on some of rock's finest recordings.

With a light, basswood body, Grover tuners and a Tune-o-matic-style bridge, you can't go wrong with the Dean MLX!

Check the drop-down menu to the right to select colors and/or other options. Case sold separately.

To get right to the point I love this guitar. Can't really get any better for its price. If you are a Dean guitar fan this is the guitar for you.If your looking for a good price, good sound, and good looks this is your guitar.Of course there are better Deans but this awsome Dean for its price I extremly recommend it.I use it on my Crate Amp with my Line 6 Uber Metal Distortion Peadal and boy does it scream.Whether its distortion or clean this guitar does it.So save up or buy it already believe me you wont regret it what you will regret is not getting it.

Alright first off let me say when plugged into a good amp this thing thrashes even with stock hardware. The soud quality of the pickups is good overall. Other than that this guitar is very poorly put together. The biggest problem I have is the neck... I don't even need a tremolo bridge to have a whammy effect. the weight of the guitar leaning on a stand is enough to make the neck torque the strings out of tune. The action is very poor aswell. For the money not a terrible buy but, There are alot of better made guitars out there for around the same price. Overall it's a guitar that makes as much of a headache for the player as the neighbors but nothing more.

Great for the price

By JOHN MARCELINO

from california

This guitar is amazing on many levels! I bought this guitar at Guitar Center because the shape just got me and the sound for the price. I owned for about 2 years now it has lasted really well, no wear or tear so its durable. Well actually there is only one tearing witch was my fault for accidentally stepping on the guitar cable while the MLX was resting and the input was pulled off along with the striping the screw holes, making me drill three new holes for the screws to get screwed in again. Anyhow this guitar is really light weight, awesome shape, and very comfortable playing. I tried this guitar on many tunings such as Standard, Drop D, Tune D, Tune C#, even Drop B, and it sounds great on all of them. Although the humbuckers the guitar is equipped with are better on lower tunings like Tune D or below. The neck is sort of fat since its a C neck shape but you can get a tight grip for fast rhythms and sweeping leads. Anyhow, this review can go on but if you're on a budget, this guitar is for you, (If you do not care about the wood)

Great

By James

i play anything from metallica to born of osiris and this guitar can take it. its got great deep tone from the stock zebra pickups. i might change them some day but they're perfect for now. its got great sustain. im not disappointed from this guitar. i got it for $150 at the memorial day sale. it was a steal compared to the list price. i would recommend this guitar to intermediate guitarists. i havent had it to a gig yet but i think it could withstand it.

Great Beginner Axe

By Jensen Allen

from Aurora, CO

I've owned this guitar since around March, and it's late November now. This guitar has not given me any problems. I give it 5 stars because it plays exceptionally for its price. The pickups are great for all types of music. The shape is comfortable sitting in a chair because you can put it between your legs or on your right leg. It stays in tune for a long time, even with bends. The body has a really cool shape and the finish is great (I just have scratches on the back from my belt buckle, no big deal). This guitar gives pretty good sustain and has a nice tone. I play metal in one band, but also play clean music for a Church praise band. It works for both! This guitar is great for players up to intermediate, and it is my first owned electric. I play all sorts of music with it, and it works great for all of them. This is a very well priced guitar. The fretboard plays pretty fast, and the action is decent. The guitar is a little bit on the heavy side, but the weight distribution is perfect. It stays positioned right where you want it. The bolt on works well, the only thing is I couldn't put a strap lock on the top button because the screw wasn't long enough (body hole was stripped, the nail couldn't reach the neck). This is only a problem with the buttons though. The knobs are in a perfect place, you don't accidentally turn them while playing. This guitar has been very reliable and I haven't had to take it in. Features are great, quality is great, and feel is great for this price! I highly recommend this great guitar from Dean.

Wunderbar

By Andy

from Cheyenne, wy

This is a GREAT guitar, I got one and for the price I could not be happier. I play mine with a Spider III by Line6 and it has a great sound for Metal, Rock or anyother style you would want to play. The only down side to this guitar is its size, since it is so big it will not fit into a standard case and from time to time it can be hard to play sitting down or in a small area, however, in all this is by far one of the best guitars i have played on.

One Amazing Guitar

By Anthony Marcione

from Homer Glen, IL

This guitar is one of my favorite guitars to play!! I play this with a digi tech death metal distortion stomp box and it sounds great, this would make for a good studio guitar too sometimes, I use this guitar all the time and I woundn't play any other guitar. The neck is an amazing neck but the one problem I have is if u strum to hard the strings can easily get out of place but it's easy to put back on. The stock pickups you should probabily replace they make an ok sound but either way this guitar will satisfy your guitar needs.

amazing for the price

By Mitch

from buffalo, NY

i bought this guitar as a step-up from my stratocaster, and it was worth every penny. the pickups are amazing. it is comfortable, smooth, and has a great feel to it. it has two volume and one tone knob, so i could do a knockoff killswitch for songs like Bulls on Parade and other RATM songs. all in all, it's a great guitar, but it is a little heavy and bulky. i started playing shows so i need a smaller and lighter guitar. but it was hard to let this one go :[ and also it requires a larger, more expensive case. but don't let that change your mind cuz all in all its amazing and i will reccomend it for someone who wants quality and classic in the same guitar.

The Dean MLX

Very good guitar overall. I love the the tone of the guitar, as well as the quality with low, mid, and high tones. Finish is beautiful. And will, if you take care of it, last a long time.

This guitar is sic!

By Tim Sammons

from Scottsdale, Arizona

This is definatly one of the best Dean guitars I've ever played. Imean the pick-ups on this thing are awesome and the shape is the BEST. It also has the signature Dean neck and winged logo. Who doesn't like that? The only downside is that it's pretty hard to sit down with but that's not a big deal at all. It screams with any amp. I recomend this guitar 100%!

one insane guitar

By Andrew

from Phoenix Az

well i have had only 3 guitars, an acoustic, an awful jay turser starter, and this one, and when i got this i was amazed and thought "this cant possibly sound so good and be so cheap" well i was wrong. this thing is very light, nice to look at, and sounds insane. perfect for anybody who wants a guitar that can shred metal, rock, and punk all with terrific sound, not to mention this is all on a 10-watt marshall
