Comments about Dean Exotica Quilted Ash Acoustic-Electric Bass Guitar:

I'm just a guitar player who like to occasionally play the bass, and do home recording. This is a great bass for the money.

    Very nice looking bass

    By Jeffrey Baker

Comments about Dean Exotica Quilted Ash Acoustic-Electric Bass Guitar:

I have owned it for 5 days. i love it. It hits every note up and down the fretboard. It has a nice tone. It is staying in tune very well. This bass is much more pleasing than I thought it would be. I am not going to adjust anything. It works fine the way it is. The only complaint is that it only has one hook for the strap. You will need to get a quick release strap to hook the other end of your strap on. The battery in it was dead when I got it home. I had to run to the store to get one.

    Very pleasantly surprised!

    By Chris Steiner

Comments about Dean Exotica Quilted Ash Acoustic-Electric Bass Guitar:

I have been playing a KONA brand acoustic electric bass for years, at bonfire partys, the beach, anywhere that an acoustic jam might break out and it played well and sounded pretty darn good even unplugged. That said, this new Dean simply blows the 'ole KONA away. The fit and finish is excellent, it plays very nicely, the action and feel is comparable to my Fender American Jazz Deluxe bass and it is one of the most visually striking guitars I have seen. The quilted ash top is perfectly bookmatched and the binding Dean chose is a beautiful compliment to the body woods. Add the built in tuner and the Dean pre-amp and now I'm wondering how they can sell this beaut' for less than $400!!! Two output jacks, a standard 1/4" plug and also an XLR (mic' cable) jack are also standard. Kudos to Dean for building such an awesome acoustic bass and making it affordable for just about any budget!

    Great Look, good sound.

    By Steven McAdams

Comments about Dean Exotica Quilted Ash Acoustic-Electric Bass Guitar:

I love my Dean bass. It looks fantastic and sounds almost as good. Plugged in, I find that in order to get "my tone" I have to cut the high and mid eqs way out while leaving the low flat. Otherwise it's a little to tinny for my taste. What I do love is it sounds so different from my other bass which is a 5 string electric. If I'm being picky the action's a bit high but nothing a good luthier can't help me rectify. I am very happy with my choice.

    Dean Exotica Acoustic Bass

    By Bruce Huntington

    from Ocean Beach California

Comments about Dean Exotica Quilted Ash Acoustic-Electric Bass Guitar:

I purchased a Dean Exotica acoustic bass and realized that it had a defective pickup. I took it back to The Guitar Center. They were out of these basses, but had one shipped in the next day. This new bass had a very bad rattle across the entire neck and was unplayable. I took the bass to a Luthier and had him do a complete setup including replacing the plastic saddle on the bridge with a bone saddle. I also put on $50 flat wound strings. The work cost me $150, which seems like a lot, but I now have a fantastic bass that I will put up against any other acoustic bass I have ever heard! It was money well spent.

    Exotica

    By Nick

Comments about Dean Exotica Quilted Ash Acoustic-Electric Bass Guitar:

I received this as a gift from my father and he told me over the phone it was the nicest acoustic bass he's ever seen. And when I came to get it she dropped my jaw. Its a shame the pictures on here r so terrible because it the most beautiful wood grain. Its got a brownish gold binding. Its light it sounds nice ant it turns heads. I don't play her that much because I'm getting adjusted to a tight 5 string. All and all its a 5 out of 5 for me even if it a grandpa's guitar LOL.

beautifull guitar, but is lacking in sound

    By nathan

    from fort walton beach, FL

Comments about Dean Exotica Quilted Ash Acoustic-Electric Bass Guitar:

wood work is really gorgeous, seems the guitar didnt have enought depth and bass to it. Highs were pretty good, and plugged in, it was very good, unplugged was not the best and the action was a little to high for my taste.

    Nice Acoustic

    By joshgt85

    from Eugene OR

Comments about Dean Exotica Quilted Ash Acoustic-Electric Bass Guitar:

I love the quilted ash, it looks a lot better in person. this bass gets a great full sound despite not having as large a body as others I tried, I compared it to the Ibanez exotic wood acoustic bass and I liked this better, the neck on this bass was a lot closer to the neck on my electric. The only reason I gave it a four star is because the book matching on the laminate top isnۡt lined up right and its noticeable so just pick and choose for the best one
