I bought this as a self taught(Using my Classical Guitar training), beginning bassist. For the price, it's a great package and well worth the money. The Guitar itself is nice: 21 frets, single pick-up and volume/tone knobs. The finish is good and the neck has a very smooth feel. The tuning heads stay in place and are easy to adjust. The Amp is quite decent with your basic controls, and gets modest sound and a lot of volume. The extra parts of the package probably won't get much use other than the cable and strap. The cable is very thin and with a more distorted tone a static-like sound comes from the amp it should probably get replaced. The strap isn't the best quality but it holds the guitar which is all it needs to do. The bag is very thin and I wouldn't carry the guitar in it without grabbing around it, but it works to keep dust off the Bass. The tuner's finicky but works fine, the picks are "mediums" and it also comes with adjustment pieces and instructions for fixing the neck(if necessary).

I have invested money several times in an attempt to fix this bass. For starters the bass came in damaged. The packaging wasn't disturbed or had any visible defects, so it must have been the manufacturers fault. Not only was the bridge and pickup terrible, but the bolt arrangement makes it impossible to swap them out for better hardware without having to carve into the body. There were several fret buzz issues even when all was attempted to fix it. The tuners weren't solid and took several winds to tune. The only chance you have of getting better tone is changing the amp and strings. The amp included is also bad. It was quiet even in the highest volume, and i was not able to get good tone out of it. The tone nob barely changed anything, and the sound still was low quality. The only pros to this guitar seem to be the beautiful black body and transparent gloss finish. Well, i shouldn't have expected to much from an economic guitar, but the Squier packs were much better quality for 70 dollars more. Bottom line, it could be used as a practicing bass, with a better amp and fresh strings. The straps and picks were fine, but you think they would have at least a dean logo. The tuner wasn't very good, and broke after a month or two. I should've returned it within the return period instead of giving it a chance. Slapping is ok, and it seems most suited for rock music. In conclusion, just buy a Squier or Tobias pack. Dont waste your money on this.

Comments about Dean Edge 09 Bass and Amp Pack:

This package was given to me for christmas last year. It has definately taught me alot about playing bass, I would recomend it to anyone that wants to get into playing bass. The amp is... well... it makes sound, the strap has never slipped or come loose on me, the tuner works great, the cord will last for about 3 months, and the bass itself is comfortable its fairly light and the tuners hold great. Overall its a great package and it will definately teach you everything you need to know about playing bass.

The guitar is awesome, but the amp isn't too much to brag about, the strap is great. For the money, it is a complete steal if you are beginning then this pack is for you because it has your essentials and i LOVE it.

A STEAL!!!!!

Comments about Dean Edge 09 Bass and Amp Pack:

Ok, first of all, the whole package is very good. The bass is very reliable and is nice for beginners. The amp isn't too bad either. Besides that, you might want to replace the gig bag cause its like paper, and you should think about getting and new strap because mine snapped when I had it on. Besides those two things, GO AND GET IT!!!!!!!

Comments about Dean Edge 09 Bass and Amp Pack:

I got this as my first bass and it's great. The bass itself is nice and plays well, the amp gets reasonable sound and nice tone, the gig bag isn't really thick but it's not as thin as some of the other gig bags out there, The cable is thin but is is fine and does what it is supossed to, the picks are well, picks the tuner/metronome is hard to figure out but once you do figure it out it is pretty good. All in All this is a great package at a great value.

First Bass. Love it.

By Kevin

from Oakland, NJ

Comments about Dean Edge 09 Bass and Amp Pack:

I love the bass, eventhough I heard bad things about this brand. The strap is pretty good, it won't drop the bass, that's for sure. The amp is pretty good, definitely worth the price. The tuner is alright. I an online one that's pretty great, so I don't have to use this one. The gig is a little weak, but it's okay. It doesn't come with a stand, which you probably want, so that's an extra bit of money. Basically, if you are on a budget, this is definitely the best you can get.

Great Package at a Great Price

By John

from Wichita Falls, TX

Comments about Dean Edge 09 Bass and Amp Pack:

I picked up this package as my first Bass because it is reasonably priced and comes with everything you need to be able to play. After reading many of the comments about this package I was concerned about the condition the instrument would be in when it arrived but it arrived in perfect order so no woriies there. The bass is beautiful and unlike many I am pleased with how the amp sounds. The chord is a little thin but it does what it is supposed to do so I have no complaints there. The tuner is a little difficult to use but once you figure it out it becomes much easier. The gig bag is very thin and I use it primarily as a dust cover and there is nothing wrong with the strap. All in all I am very happy with this package and would recommend it to anyone who would like to pick up the bass.

Not bad for beginner

By CNeal

from noblesville, IN

Comments about Dean Edge 09 Bass and Amp Pack:

The axe isn't bad at all. I'm just learning bass from scratch so i can't tell you about slap and all that. The amp is ok for practice, kinda sad to look at, i have bigger speakers in my car. The cables are junk, buy some new ones, the gig bag, same thing, buy new if you want to carry it around. Tuners ok. Overall not bad for the price for a beginner. I will upgrade in the future. Thanks GC!!!
