I bought this about a week or two ago and it's a great bass! Everything sounds good and everything. When I did finally get it home though I noticed whenever I hit my E string the D string tuning peg would rattle. It's kind of bothersome but I just need to go to GC to have them fix it and then it should be in tip top shape! It's great for punk, thrash, death, hell, I've even played some funk stuff and it still sounds great for a low price!
After adjusting the action, this bass becomes a comfortable and worth-while instrument. Though it's not the "top quality" brand, Dean makes this a comfortable fit for any bass player that prefers five strings. The pickups dont transmit as much low-end as would be prefered, but the soap bar pickup does give rich and accurate high-end tones. This bass gives pleasant thump and pop sounds for slap bassists, and has enough room for funk players that prefer to play close to the bridge. Overall, this bass is a wise investment and is more than worth-while for it's price.
this was my very first bass. my mother bought it for me as a christmas gift last year. not something you would want to go into the studio with, but it's a good idea for a beginner. very versatile, if you dial the tone knob down, it can sound pretty low, but if you dial it up you can get a really trebly kind of sound. it made my amp rumble kind of, so i have to dial back the bass knob on my amp really low so it won't rumble as bad. if you're looking for a good beginner or intermediate bass that's not really high dollar then this would be a good choice.
I bought this guitar because I wanted a five string and I was short on cash. I have heard a lot of possitive feedback for Dean bass guitars and picked this one. It was a very good choice. It has a lot of low end and the Low B really rumbles. The only thing I didn't like was that it's volume was much lower then my 4 strings i really had to crank it up on my head. otherwise very good guitar.
