I've just bought this bass a month ago and it has been a great experience. I was looking for an affordable acoustic bass guitar and this by far was the best deal. I use this one to play my notes without setting the whole thing (amp, cables, etc.) and found a nice wood sound. The electric interface is not awesome but works well if you want to plug it. Great value for your money.

My wife bought me this guitar for Christmas, it was sold as out-of-box, so I would expect some wear on it. The neck was out of line so the thing wouldn't play, there were some cosmetic flaws too. I returned it, chalking it up to an open item, got a new one in the box, got home opened it up and more cosmetic flaws, just poor workmanship, but it played and sounded great. I tried to return it, but the two the store had were defective too. The guy at the store told me he could swap it out for a Michael Kelly for $15 difference, selling it at $214, I said sure maybe it will be put together better. Well it turned out he could not make that deal after telling me he could, so I still have my Dean Playmate #2. I suppose Dean just had a bad batch of these at the beginning of the year or something. Typically a pretty good product.

Comments about Dean EABC Cutaway Acoustic-Electric Bass:

I just bought this bass a couple days ago, and i love it. It's got a great sound once you tune it, and the body feels great. It seems like it would be a bit bulky, but it's really not, it fits just right in my arms. lol I would recommend this bass to anyone who wants an acoustic bass, not only is the price great, but the sound is too!

Great Acoustic bass!!!

By Dan

from Durand, MI

Comments about Dean EABC Cutaway Acoustic-Electric Bass:

I went to guitar center to pick up a case for my Thunderbird, and i went into the acoustic room to play some of the guitars and basses, and i found this. I got it of the wall, and i was surprised! it sounded very nice, and the loudness kept up very good with my lead guitarist thats in my band, playing a Fender acoustic. We both sat there and played for a while. I dont have this bass yet, but when my band gets another paycheck, im gettin this with my share. I highly recommend this to anyone who wants a great sounding, cool looking, loud acoustic bass.

budget bass

Comments about Dean EABC Cutaway Acoustic-Electric Bass:

Definetly a great bass for the money. Has a good balance and feel, and great tone. I do recommend changing out the stock strings for something a little higher quality, but if you want a rich sound on a poor mans dollar then this is a good choice.

Great Acoustic

By Alex

from Cleveland, OH

Comments about Dean EABC Cutaway Acoustic-Electric Bass:

I bought this accoustic as an alternative to plugging in my Ibanez GSR. It's awesome for practicing or playing acoustic sets. Smooth travel all along the fret boad, and a great tone, much deeper than other acoustics i tried. Only recomendation is to cahnge the strings to Ernie Ball Earthwood Acoustics.

Amazing

By Les

Comments about Dean EABC Cutaway Acoustic-Electric Bass:

I was at a guitar center and played this bass. It is amazingly loud and has a good acoustic tone. I played a 600 dollar acoustic bass that was hanging right next to it and there was no comparison. Sound was way better from the cheap dean. I didn't have the cash right then but am going to buy this bass this week.

Comments about Dean EABC Cutaway Acoustic-Electric Bass:

I was looking for a cheap acoustic bass so i could just pick it up n jam anytime w/out the amp n bring it outside n jam in the park with some friends n i saw this one its biggg but at least it gives off alot of sound n it looks awsome even if it dosent in the picture. I played it right away after i tuned it n it sounded great.

Comments about Dean EABC Cutaway Acoustic-Electric Bass:

I walked in to Guitar Center wth $300 in my pocket, thinking I'd be walking with a keyboard. I shouldn't have walked in to the acoustic room because, from the second this bass hit my hands, I knew I'd be going home without a keyboard.

I've wanted an acoustic bass for a few years and a salesman suggested I try a few of the models. I'm a fan of Ibanez products, but the unplugged tone didn't hold a candle to this Dean monster. It booms like a bass but still has a acoustic quality to it.

There are a few negatives, but they're mostly personal. If you're a small-handed person, I'd avoid this beast. The extended scale means you're going to be reaching for some of the lower notes. Also, the electronics leave something to be desired but it's nothing pedals and EQ can't fix.

On the whole, this bass feels like a steal. Monster tone on both the low end and high end, and it's a beauty to boot. I'm very happy to have added it to my collection.

Nice Solid Acoustic Sound

By Chris

from Dover, NJ

Comments about Dean EABC Cutaway Acoustic-Electric Bass:

I bought this bass so I could practic without disturbing my neighbors at 4 am. This guitar has a nice sound and as someone mentioned earlier, the Ernie Ball Earthwood Acoustic Bass (2070)strings sound very clean on this guitar. I only one complaint and that was when I got down to playing the 15th fret on the G string it buzzed like mad. When I looked down the neck from the bridge I could see a definite hump at the 15th fret. I had to tap some of the frets deeper into the fretboard and stone them to get the ability to play all frets without getting buzzed. Once I tapped and stoned the frets with the addition of Ernie Ball strings, this puppy sounds great.
