What I like about this little stick is that I can sit in front of my computer/speakers and play songs on Real Player or Windows Media Player without having hook up a bulky amp. Then, when I get ready to gig, I can grab my "P" Bass and go to work with plenty of practice under my belt. The tone is great for what I am doing in my practice sessions. The neck and body are great to work with, as well. In general a great little bass to play around with. Haven't even plugged it in yet, much less tried to use it on a gig, so I don't know how it would sound through an amp.

I never saw this guitar in person before I had purchased it, BIG mistake! Never buy a guitar without fitting it to yourself. If it doesn't feel comfortable for you to hold naturally, then you know it isn't gonna feel comfortable to play. Anyways, back to the review of this DEAN EAB(C). When I first received this guitar, the first thing I wanted to do with it was to return it. I should have. I bought this Bass from Guitar Center, from this web site, back in 2010. Then, when I first received it, the neck had a minor twist to it at the thirteenth fret into fret twelve, it had a nice hump on the bottom of the neck where G & G# is located for a second time but an octave higher. But I don't like shipping stuff back so I corrected that problem myself. But as time went on and wear and tear occurs, it just so happens that wear and tear really took it's toll out on this DEAN bass prematurely cause the fret board(finger board) has started to peel away from the neck up by the nut where F, F# & G are under the E string frets 1, 2 & 3. Cool huh? Three years old and the guitar is already shot out. But the wear and tear really doesn't bother me because I only used the acoustic bass to practice hammering, slapping & popping quickly, and to practice fingering to keep fingering speed at a decent rate so it doesn't sound like a pulse rate or gallop. Hammering strings, slapping and popping strings, and maintaining a decent rhythm while fingering strings instead of strumming them with a pick on an acoustic bass guitar is loud enough inside of an apartment.

Great AB for the Price

By Jon Epstein

from akron, ohio

Comments about Dean EAB Acoustic-Electric Bass:

The Dean Playmate is an exceptionally reasonably priced acoustic electric bass that is an excellent starter bass for those making a transition from electric. The playability of this instrument is outstanding, due particulalry to the thin neck and the long neck. The acoustic tone is decent....not great...but passable in most instances. As an electric this bass is a bit weak....but then that's what solidbodies are for, right. Overall, as a first time ab, this is a good buy. For those use to a high end instrument, this is probably not for you.

If you're undecided, just go for it!

By Bubba the Hut

Comments about Dean EAB Acoustic-Electric Bass:

If you're thinking this bass might be a toy, think again. Yes, it's really inexpensive, made in China and mine has some minor issues with the finish, but it plays great and sounds boomy and bright. I am very pleasantly surprised. The GC site pix don't show the control panel, which is simple and unobtrusive with one slider each for volume and tone. Mine has only one strap button (at the bridge end of the body), but I always play sitting down anyway. I'm glad I chose a model *without* a cutaway, as the body balances well on my left thigh fulcrum. Very lightweight instrument, yet it feels sturdy. If minor blemishes are likely to bother you, the natural might be a better choice than the black finish that I went with (although the black does look sharp 8^) The flaws are minor and no worse than the instrument will have after a a few months if being gently knocked against the furniture, etc. I wish I had bought this a couple of months ago when I first noticed it on GC.com.

A-M-A-Z-I-N-G

Comments about Dean EAB Acoustic-Electric Bass:

I was looking for an acoustic bass for my band for acoustic shows. This is ana amazing piece of equipment for the price. When I was looking I went store to store looking for one but all I saw was high price stuff. Then I got on the website I saw this and immediatley feel in love w/ it. The sound quality is great. The only bad thing is when you plug it up to an amp you get a little bit of fret buzzing. Overall its magnificent for the price.

Comments about Dean EAB Acoustic-Electric Bass:

This kid I know in my schools has this bass. He is pretty good. He brings it to lunch everyday. The bass's acoustic quality is great to fiddle around on. I suggest this to a beginner bass or a bass you want to have fun with.

Dean EAB: The Greatest Bang For Your Buck

By Howie Clark

from Gilbert, AZ

Comments about Dean EAB Acoustic-Electric Bass:

For my birthday I told my mom to buy me this bass guitar because of its price, looks, and great reviews. She called me about 5 times the day of to make sure I wanted it. Unfortunately our local Guitar Center only had tan, so we ordered a black one. After a week of waiting, we received the bass. This is the greatest acoustic bass someone can buy for this price. Amazing, after a few times playing the sounds warms up and you have delicious tones. I will most certainly be returning to Dean for my next acoustic bass, unfortunately Fender still has my electric heart.

First Bass

By Mrkyle

from California

Comments about Dean EAB Acoustic-Electric Bass:

I bought this for my son to begin learning to play Bass with. I am very impressed by the quality "black finish is sweet" nice smooth neck good action, my son loves it. The strings tend to buzz a bit if you pluck too hard, might need to adjust or just get new ones. Using it as purely acoustic Bass works great! My son is learning away! Guitar center shipped it fast and the folks at the local store have been very helpful answering all my questions.

remarkable value

By scott feldstein

from waukesha, wi

Comments about Dean EAB Acoustic-Electric Bass:

The neck is straight as an arrow. No fret buzz, even though the action is very playable. The intonation is less than perfect, but acceptable. The acoustic sound is big, but the electronics don't seem very good. One volume and one tone control don't offer much variability and it seems quiet when amped. I bought this for jamming with an acoustic guitar at home and around the campfire. For that purpose, it's a brilliant value. If you need an inexpensive, playable acoustic bass, you can't go wrong here.

Definetly Worth every penny

By William Wenzel

from Bullhead City AZ

Comments about Dean EAB Acoustic-Electric Bass:

This bass is more than worth the money. I just got mine today and after some tuning and a neck adjustment it sounds beautiful. The only reason i put it down was to write this review about it. So if your looking to buy a new bass or just beginning this is the way to go for money and quality.
