This was my birthday gift for turning 14. I could not be any happier. This was my upgrade from a cheap squier strat. This guitar is great for everything. Being a megadeth fan what more can you ask for than a Mustaine signature guitar? Im in a metal band and when i brought this my lead guitarist was wow'd. This guitar is great for palm muting which is something i really need as the rhythm guitarist in my band. Everything about the guitar is great and i would definitely recommend this to any guitarist on any level because it is very affordable and a great guitar all at the same time. Rock on everyone!

I got this about 4 months ago. Looks really cool. When I got it the action was way to high. I adjusted the neck by unscrewing the screws and screwing the neck back in. But now the screws keep coming out. The neck is all messed up. The knobs feel loose and had some string buzz. Poor craftsmanship I'd say. I guess you get what you pay for.

Great for thrash!

By Brad

from St. Joseph, Missouri

Okay so I got my United Abominations VMNTX today and I've been a huge Megadeth fan for about 8 years now. A little disappointed in it just because I mean, hey it's a $300 guitar! The neck feels kinda cheap but it's real fast and great for soloing, the pickups are alright but if you're not playing in a band like I am you don't really need to worry about it since you won't worry too much 'bout your sound. Its graphic is just stunning, lots of detail! Pretty much the only reason I gave this guitar 4 stars was because of its pickups, other than that everything is pretty great!

very good v guitar

By HEIDI ROBINSON

from ut

ignore the guy saying the graphic is just a sticker on top of the body. it is a sticker, but then the guitar has a thick layer of hard clear plastic laminate. that guys guitar probably didn't get laminated while they were making it. he should of sent it back to the company. you aren't going to get a hand painted guitar for this cheap that is for sure. and the wiring problem in the input jack is his fault. when the input gets loose people think its a good idea to simply tighten it using they're fingers. this not a good idea!!! what you end up doing is twisting the wires on the inside of the jack, and eventually they end up snapping off at the soldered points. you need a special input jack tightener to avoid this problem. i have had this guitar for about 3 years and it is still running smoothly. it works great! the pick ups aren't the best, but put a pair of black outs or EMGs and this guitar will be a machine. this is still one of my favorite guitars to this day. the neck is nice and thin for shredding. the guitar sits really well when your playing standing up. the tuners are great. i would highly recommend this guitar to anyone who likes the V style guitar profile. its a great guitar!!

Best Guitar I've Had

By Shavonne Chee

from Phoenix, Arizona

When I first got this guitar I coldnt even play a darn song. But after a few hours of practicing on this guitar Im really good now. when I first showed my friends they all laughed at me because I kept messing up, but now I show them how much I've improved I got their jaws dropping and eyes wide open. It has a really smooth sound with Marshall and Line 6 amplifiers. Both give it a kick butt distortion sound that can crack your ribcage and a smooth clean sound that can put a lil baby or a grown man asleep. I have had this guitar for almost 2 years now and I'll never stop playing this Dave Mustaine United Abominations VMNT. On a scale of 1 to 10 I give it a 100. Its a really awesome guitar. With this guitar you dont have to struggle with changing your strings, you just have to put them through the six little holes in the back of the guitar. I cant live without this guitar its the love of my life. The look and fell is just as awesome as the sound. It has just the perfect weight for so that its not to heavy that it will give you a hunch back. Its not to light that you'll be playing way up in your chest area with the strap on. The colors on my VMNT are still the same as when I first got it. I highly recommend this to anyone who wants to begin playing or anyone who is getting back into playing again. This guitar is truly a piece of beautiful art. Thank you Dave for designing Awesome guitars such as this.

All Looks No Sound

By John

from Hartford, CT

This guitar just looks good that's about it it's cheaply built, it's sounds terrible for metal. I have other low line guitars that feel better made and sound a lot better. My LTD which is about the same price line feels and sounds better.

A KILLER entry-level AXE

By DAVE

from Apple Valley California

Here's the meat-n-potatos. The neck is very fast and comfortable, boasting a polished fret board. The tuners are the best I've ever owned. That goes for the pick-ups as well- far better than my Fender Strat, and even better than my other Dean, a Vendetta. It's actually very comfortable to play even while sitting. For the down-side, mine is wired backwards at the volume controls / the top volume knob controlls the bottom pick-up/ and visa-versa. I got used to it in 5 minutes-so no big deal. Now, there's some clown complaining that he had to resolder this guitar 5 times. If he knew how to solder, he would have done it right the first time - so just disreguard his ramblings & read the other reviews. I also had some difficulty in finding a case to fit this axe, so take it with u when u shop for your case or you'll be sorry. The salesman at GC showed me 4 - 5 cases and he was SURE that each one would fit and was then surprised when they didn't. It was wider at the base & longer over all, than any other "V" at GC. The pics don't do the size of it justice. Also GC wanted an extra $80 for the(set-up). Mine was pretty close out of the box & I was able to do it myself. It's solid, has a medium weight, great balance, and a nice paint job. I'm real happy with it. I hope this review was helpful

My baby Charybdis

By eighty-eight-fingers edd

from Odenton, md

So I bought this guitar last winter, what I was looking for was a Vshaped guitar for a good price. I saw this and the price is unbeatable. You get so much out of this guitar: very smooth, fast neck that feels natural, solid tone and great electronics that are positioned perfectly. Also, you get so much tone from just a turn of a knob. I changed the pick-ups to duncans and it screams even LOUDER. Finish is great and tuning was tight but it's starting to get touchy. No big deal though I still love the guitar. I even named it Charybdis, that should be enough by itself.

Another Dean Fanatic

By Jack G.

from Weed,Ca.

The price sold me on it and the playability will keep me coming back to Dean.Love the 24 fretts and the thin neck is great for small hands like mine.Very light weight.Sounds great with a Peavey Vyper 15 Watt amp for practice.Hey,if you're a Dave Mustaine fan like me but can't afford his more expensive models I highly recommend this guitar!I'm sold on Dean!!!(By the way, guitar center employees are fantastic and won't intimadate a beginning player)
