Ive been waiting for this guitar for a long time, and when i finaly got it, the first thing i notice is how light it is and how thin the neck is. PERFECT for my style. i also installed the emg 81 85 set into it, and all i can say this guitar is realy perfect, the stock pic ups are realy good, but they are stock, the emgs along with the overal guitar is one of the best metal guitar set ups you can have.thank you dean and thank you Dave Mustaine. Shred away with the vmntx

I played this at my local store and it wasn't good at all. The only good thing outta it was the releatively fast neck. The pickups were horrible and it seemed like there was no difference in the change of pickups. Overall I'd say not to buy this, but get a nicer epiphone instead.

Comments about Dean Dave Mustaine VMNTX Electric Guitar:

The pickups aren't that great but you can always change them to get a better tone.

The guitar looks pretty solid overall and is easy to play, I'd definitely recommend buying it if you don't want to spend big money.

I've had mine for almost 6 years and still rocks.

Comments about Dean Dave Mustaine VMNTX Electric Guitar:

First of all this is my first guitar and so when I held it and put the jack into the amp, I was blown away. It's cool, sounds great, had a lot of recommendations about this starter guitar and was recommended to change the pick ups at a later date when my playing improves. That's the best deal out there today and just change the pickups if you want more heavier tone, and more metal. Otherwise I love this guitar and be artful about the case....get a Flying V case from Amazon, ordered one here at GC And it sucked. Otherwise after two months love the feel of this guitar as I clumsily improve...fingers crossed.

Comments about Dean Dave Mustaine VMNTX Electric Guitar:

This is a fun guitar to play. It has a slim neck with a natural finish so it is a good shredding guitar. But I wouldn't use it for a large gig. It is pretty limited in function. No trem system and the pick ups are nothing to right home about. But if plan to switch the pick ups out. It makes for a fun guitar to jam with your friends and in a pinch a good back up guitar.

Pretty darn good for a lower price ranged guitar

        By GuitarPlayerZero

        from Duncanville, Tx

Comments about Dean Dave Mustaine VMNTX Electric Guitar:

Overall I'd say this is a pretty solid guitar. I'm not crazy about the basswood body or the bolt on construction of the neck, but at the price point it's kind of hard to complain about. Everything else is pretty good for the price point. The pickups, neck, bridge and tuners make up for it. I'm happy with it, and if you order it, I hope you will be too.
Pretty simple and straight forward, just about what you'd expect out of a standard guitar. Tune-o-matic bridge, dual dean design humbuckers, two volume pots and one tone pot, 6 in line mini grover tuners and 3 way toggle switch.
I'm gonna have to say, for the price, this guitar has impressed me. The pups on here sound a lot better than most in house pickups from the esp ltd line, ibanez, and epiphone in this price range. There is a nice, bright clarity to them that I like. Note articulation is pretty respectable with them which I appreciate. Bridge and tuners seem pretty solid. Setup was good out of the box on my friend's guitar. The neck is what made me really happy. After getting back into music after a 2 year hiatus and playing for 2 or 3 hours a day, the Les Paul I used to have was just painful to my left hand. The neck on this guitar just feels worlds better. It's neither too meaty or too thin for my hand and I could just glide across it almost as if it were smeared down with butter. If the thick C shaped necks are giving you trouble, or you just prefer a thinner neck I'd definitely recommend it. I liked my friend's vmntx so much I ordered my own today.
I've paid more for guitars I've liked a lot less (epiphone les paul and esp ex-50). Given the comfort of the neck, the solid construction of the mini grover tuners and a pretty decent bridge, I'd say this is well worth the money.

        Kick-Ass Guitar

        By StuPaul

        from Undisclosed

Comments about Dean Dave Mustaine VMNTX Electric Guitar:

I bought one, it had a dent in the neck and the frets needed to be filed at the ends so I exchanged it with no problem. The new one also had a dent so I returned it with no prblem. The guitar sounded good. The string-thru bridge does give it more sustain but, sounds more acoustic because of the holes. I don't know if the balance was off but, the neck would dive down. It kinda felt like I had to hold it up while playing. It was a workout. I would feel exhausted after awhile but, I kinda liked that. It felt like it was making me stronger. The shape of the neck I like a lot because it's flater than the average D shape. I was able to spread my fingers and reach further. The pick-ups are good. With the 2 volume knobs,1 tone and 3-way switch, I could adjust it well and really get into it. Music123 was cool about things and the process was smooth. I'm definitely coming back.

This is an amazing guitar! Ive been playing it for around 6-8 months now, and it sounds great. Probably one of the most affordable guitars out there, stays in tune also. Overall probably the best guitar in this price range.

        Amazing for the price

        By Torrey

Comments about Dean Dave Mustaine VMNTX Electric Guitar:

Before i got this i owned an zakk wylde epiphone les paul custom that sounded great, but i just didn't like the neck. I had some extra cash so i picked this up used for just a mess around guitar, and wow i was very surprised. it sounds amazing and feels so amazing i actually sold my les paul and held onto this. Great fast neck, good sounding pickups not great for clean but good. Doesn't do well in drop tuning though so don't expect to do a ton of death metal on it. It has a hollow body so it can have a cheap sound but throw distortion over it and its fine. paint chips off easily though on the end of the V so be careful putting it on hard floors.

Inspect it carefully out of the box

        By Joey Gilbert

        from Pennsylvania

Comments about Dean Dave Mustaine VMNTX Electric Guitar:

I had to return the first one of these because after taking it out of the box and looking it over, I notced that the neck was not square to the neck joint and somebody tightened it down anyway. There was an inch long crack in the body at the base of the neck. I don't now if I was more disappointed in the chinese factory worker who assembled it or the american inspector who signed off on it.

Fortunately Musicians Friend made exchanging it fast and easy. My replacement was on its way before they received the defective one! Excellent customer service :)

My replacement guitar arrived in perfect condition. It is a truly shred-worthy axe. The pickups are a little noisy (i might eventually replace them) but overall I love everything about this guitar. It looks and sounds killer and has a great feel to it. Great price on an awesome V !!!

BTW...I definitely recommend purchasing the Dean V Hardshell case for this guitar.
