It looks REALLY COOL and I love the design of the headstock because it helps keep in tune by keeping the strings lined up straight with the nut (even though the nut is just cheap plastic).

The thing that absolutely sucks is the FAKE low quality pickups. Yes, they are fake. They may come from Seymour Duncan but they are indeed fake because they are not the authentic pickups that you would receive if bought separately to install yourself. They are cheap economy versions that sound BAD and are not even wired according to the diagrams provided by the Seymour Duncan site! I bought and installed some SD blackouts and now it sounds awesome.

The high frets on the lower neck are a great idea and I guess it's the equivalent of a fingerboard. The neck shape is basically the same as a slim Jackson neck.
The V shape looks great and is much more comfortable to play sitting down than an asymmetrical V like the Jackson Randy Rhoads.

Lastly I should mention that the strings it comes with are 10's. They are way to stiff for my taste. I think the string-thru design makes the strings feel even stiffer and would perhaps benefit from a stopbar instead.

Comments about Dean Dave Mustaine VMNT Angel of Deth Electric Guitar:

Yea I can't comment on the graphic because mine is metallic silver, but this axe is astonishingly light weight yet carries heavy tones of endless sustain. Being only 5'4" with small hands the d profile on a 25.5 scale can be a challenge, but keep stretching, it turns to butter. The ebony fret board feels fast as the guitar came set up with low action out of the box. The inline six headstock makes tuning an easy reach. Built in strap locks! Thanks Dave, this guitar looks stellar with one of a kind inlays, sounds extra crunchy with active pickups.

Comments about Dean Dave Mustaine VMNT Angel of Deth Electric Guitar:

i have had this guitar for quite some time now. i love it. it looks awesome, feels great, and sounds.... i cant even think of a word good enough to describe its sound. epic is n understatment. i have NEVER been a fan of active pickups, hated every one i ever tried. this guitar has changed my mind on that. all i can say is that i have 32 guitars in my collection, so im not a newcomer, but i never thought a guitar could sound this good.

now, that said, heres my complaints. the instrument i got was a "first", but the shape it left the factory, they should have been ashamed to sell it as a 2nd/blem. mechanically, its great. no problems with the graphics, but then they clear coated it, and thats when it all went to s@#t. the clear coat comes up the neck binding where it meets the body and is lumped up in places, and chipped and jagged where it meets the fretboard in others. add to that there is a HUGE run in the finish originating from the selector switch and running down about 3-4". these are merely aesthetic, you will not notice them unless you get right up to it and look at it in the right light, but still, for a guitar in this price range, i was VERY upset with this kind of poor qc.

that said, yes, it was upsetting, but i play my guitars, a little nick here and there are part of the game, so it really wasnt that important to me. if you are a "collector" and expect something... well,.... something like you should get for a guitar in this price range, you may feel differently.

would i recommend it to a friend? for a collector, who wants a beautiful piece, no. for a player who wants a great instrument with a AWESOME sound, absolutely.

      Great Sound when it works

      By Jason Livingston

      from Brooklyn, NY

Comments about Dean Dave Mustaine VMNT Angel of Deth Electric Guitar:

Great sounding guitar - Good Sustain, Screaming pick-ups that still have good definition - , Really light but solid feel, I love the neck on this guitar. All of these reasons are why I have put up with it. I have owned this for about 2 years and just play in the home. I had to return it twice because of bad input jacks out of the box. Since then I have had to have both volume knobs replaced and It is heading back because the pick ups have shorted out. After this I will have replaced all the electronics, hopefully I will be done after that. If this was at all reliable I would give this 5 stars but the headaches have been non-stop. When it worked I loved it but buyer beware.

Comments about Dean Dave Mustaine VMNT Angel of Deth Electric Guitar:

First off I love this guitar when it works. I bought it 2 years ago and only play it in the house. It's light but sturdy. Has great sound. Screams when i ask it to and growls when i ask it to. Amazing metal tone. I love the neck. Overall a great playing experience. That being said. I had to return the first 2 because they had bad input jacks. A few months later I was replacing a volume knob. A few months after that I was replacing the other volume knob. It is back in the shop getting the pick ups replaced because they had shorted out. I'm just having the rest of the electronics replaced. What should have been a great guitar has turned into a headache. If you are lucky enough to get one that works You'll love it but . . . my experience was not so good.

      Own It, Love It

      By Mark Thompson

      from Roseville, CA

Comments about Dean Dave Mustaine VMNT Angel of Deth Electric Guitar:

I purchased this guitar but with the VMNT Fear graphics instead because I wanted a great Metal/Rock guitar with artwork. This axe is more than I expected. The neck extremely fast on attack and very comfortable to traverse. The Duncan Live Wires were a surprise considering that all my other 13 axes are passive. Harmonics, buttery leads and heavy chugging spot on, no problem. I play through Line 6 DT50-212 at home for practice and Orange Dual Terror 30w head w/4x12 cab, Line 6 M9 stomp pedal on the front end for gigs. It sounds stellar on both rigs. I cannot say enough about this guitar. Dean made the perfect Metal/Rock guitar. The only negative thing about this guitar is that it is tough to play sitting down unless leaning back, which is the case for all V's. Run out and buy one if you want to shred and sound great doing so.

Comments about Dean Dave Mustaine VMNT Angel of Deth Electric Guitar:

Full dis-closer ~ I have been a BIG FAN of Megadeth since 1985 to today ,I have bought all 13 Studio Albums & Have seen them Live 15 times very soon will be 16 times. ~~Ok with that said,Let's get to my review~~ Over my 27 years of playing guitar I have had my more than fair share of guitars out of the box, this being my 1st Dean I have to admit I bought this guitar to hang on my wall with my other Signature guitars from over my years as a talking point/decoration ~~~> Out of the box ~~~> Kinda tough to get out of the case it hangs up on the top V on something like its to tight there, the case seemed Very nice outside but inside It does seem like shotie work ,Like they didn't spend much time on the inside ~~~~> The guitar out of the case was in TUNE (1st for me) The string are a bit to heavy for me seem like 10's,I can see some think the action might be a bit to high out of the box ,I was ok with it,There is more than enough adjustment to bring it down though.at the base of the neck where it meets the body is over the top Awesome it fits like a Glove to get to the higher frets BEST Blend to the body I have EVER felt,The neck itself is WAY Fast (LOVE IT),The pick~ups where the main reason i was thinking I was buying a Deco peace (9v battery I was having Flashbacks of the old EMG81'S)Well through that out the window I'm TOTALLY BLOWN AWAY with the Live Wire p/u ~ 1st I had to plug into my (lol) Laney Linebacker Pull out ( Yes I'm a old man I know lol) Tone was very wide range & the best Stain I've herd in YEARS on this amp~~~~Next was my Line6 III it just flippin Shredded on this Thick HEAVY Crunch with little help (I was late for Dinner & the wife was so mad at me I blamed the guitar lol)Next day I showed up at the hall I took the covers of my JVM Head & Cabinets & Cranked it Playing Clean on this amp raised a eyebrow or two in the room as e1 started to show up ,We jammed for 3 Hours & this is the only guitar I played with,From Blues,Classic rock,JP,to Trivium,5fdp ect. This guitar Stays in Tune VERY WELL ,I have already decided to add this guitar to my rotation when we play out & I could see it being my main Easily ....PS LOVE The positioning of the controls

I have a PRS Torero and Zakk WWylde Les Paul both w/ active EMG's and I am VERY pleased w/ the sound of the DM pick-ups. The guitar is so light, but very solid. After cleaning the frets of the protectant that is on there, and wiping the fretboard w/lemon oil, I did put on a set of DR 9 Gauge. I have the cheaper Marshall mg100 half stack and a digitech RP355 processor, and I was blown away. If you want agreat looking and high quality instrument, you have found it! What a great instrument!

        Dave's Angel of Deth

        By David Broyles

        from Rogers, Arkansas

Comments about Dean Dave Mustaine VMNT Angel of Deth Electric Guitar:

I purchased a Dave Mustaine VMNT Sig. Angel of Deth, and I have never played any better guitar than this particular piece of art. It's my weapon of chioce on and off stage! It has unbelievable D.M. Live Wire pick-ups. The D shaped neck has a feel thats fast as hell and easy fretting, also the locking straps great for not dropping a costly instrument, the Angel of Deth Hellaciously Holy finish, incredible. The beveled edge of the guitar body is absolutly comfortable for the rythm hand. And not to mention the sound...WOW!!! I've owned it now for appx.3 months. I'll never regret this investment, shes beutifully, brilliantly, crafted and well deserved to a true guitar player and a long time MEGADETH fan. Thank you Fayettville, Arkansas Guitar Center, store management and employees for your assistance in helping me discover the absolute, hands down, best, guitar EVER!!! Its Perfect...
