Dave Mustaine named his signature acoustic-electric guitar "Mako" because of its shark gill-shaped soundhole, dorsal fin-shaped bridge, and shark's teeth pearl inlays. The soundhole provides plenty of projection while the sharp Florentine cutaway on the mahogany body with spruce top promotes upper fretboard shredding. The built-in tuner ensures the only dischords you play are intentional. Dave uses his Mako in the studio for layering and texturing tracks and feartures it on the intro to "The Hardest Part of Letting Go." Other distinctive features on the Dave Mustaine Mako include an ebony fingerboard, black NuBone nut and saddle, Grover tuners, and B-Band A3TY preamp with the aforementioned tuner.
B-Band A3TY - 4-band EQ with Tuner
The A3TY retains the simple and small features that are big on sound and intuitiveness. The compact preamp has a 4-band rotary EQ, low-battery LED and a wide range chromatic tuner. The EQ provides quick and accurate changes. The chromatic tuner is fast and has a range that will be welcomed by players that want to tune a full step down from standard - great for open tunings! The tuner's readout shows all notes, including sharps, great for standard and open tunings. The tuner has a single window showing the pitch and four LEDs showing the half step, sharp, flat and in-tune. 9-volt battery powered HZZLess circuit.
Case sold separately.

I had been contemplating this guitar for a long time, based mostly on it's look and Mustaine signature. It was finally time to upgrade my acoustic/electric and with the solid reviews I read around around the net, I made the buy. Out of the box, this was not the greatest of guitars. But like any new axe, I brought it to my guy on Long Island to get set up. His initial reaction was not comforting, but after going through his inspection, he felt confident this could be a long time keeper. When it came time to pick her up, my guy happily handed it over and it was fantastic! With the adjusted action, intonation and adjustments, I now have a beautiful guitar that not only looks great, but feels and plays great as well. So upon shipping you may not think you have something special, but with the right TLC from a good guitar tech, you will!
Had to wait a little longer than expected to recieve this terrific guitar, but it was worth it. Its a beauty. Fit and finish are impeccable. Was a little curious about resonance because of the shark tooth sound holes, as I did not play one before I ordered it, but it sounds great! Setup was good out of the box. My new fav over my epi and Carvin acoustics. My only complaint is that the flag graphic is much darker than it looks in the pics online. Still is very cool, though.
