This guitar has excellent pickups. The bridge has a mid/treble spike with lots of harmonics. I would say it is a cross between a JB and a Fred. Called Dean and they said these are import versions of their Equalizer and Nostalgia pickups. Coil tap and tone knob are balanced well, and whole set sounds very versatile and matched.

The guitar craftmaship is good, nice flame maple in blue, but without direct light, guitar looks almost black. Guitar sounds like an RG (basswood / maple) and is about the same weight maybe a tad heavier.

The body has a slight arch to the front and also a slight rout on the upper bout. Edges are rounded more than the angular RG. Neck has a nice gradual releif and frets were machine leveld. Medium/Jumbo frets. Back of neck has a nice grain but is not pretty like a 1K guitar. Neck is a bit thicker than a wizard.

Floyd Rose Special surprisingly stays in tune. I have played high-end Ibanez for years and the Floyd is not as ergonomic as the LoPro edge for the right hand, but the bar is better positioned and requires less movement for technique. Can be upgraded with OFR tone block and saddles if desired.

Guitar is inspected in USA and action from box was good. I suspect it can get much lower. However, the intonation is not set it uses the stock Floyd jig. None of the frets are overhanging the board although they can use a polish. Only real problem is that one of the claw screws was stripped (!) and needs to be replaced.

This is a great alternative to entry level Ibanez. The only thing keeping it from feeling like a 1K+ guitar is that it needs a heavier sustain block, and the pickup rings are plastic. Also, binding on headstock is plastic.

These pickups really surprised me and are good for shredders and dark amps. Pickups are personal choice, but these are as good as Dimarzios/Duncans (I usually use Evolutions and Full Shred), I'm not going to change them. For someone who is comfortable setting up their own guitars this is an amazing value.

Unfortunately this guitar had major damage to the body. One of the inlays was so deep in the fret board that it was just a hole. I could not get string buzz to stop without taking the strings to a ridiculous height. It is unplayable. The back had a chunk of wood missing and a split. I have never seen quality this bad. I have no choice but to return this guitar. What a hassle all around. I have bought other guitars for a similar price and was able to tweak it and get string buzz out without the action being to bad and there was no damage to the body like this or holes in the fret board. I am shocked at the quality. This was the silver model in case you are wondering and hope you don't get this one if you order silver. Sorry I had to give a bad review, but it is the truth.

Great Guitar but DONT DO ONLINE DELIVERY

Comments about Dean Custom 350F Electric Guitar:

Other than the excruciating delivery of this item from UPS to the Guitar Center near me (took forever), and the fact the box looked beat to hell... this is a great guitar. I have no complaints. Definitely harder to tune and change out strings, but so worth it.

Comments about Dean Custom 350F Electric Guitar:

The Custom 350F is an incredible looking guitar. I love playing it and the features included for the price are great! I would have given it 5 stars but I feel like it was thrown together with spare parts and given to the "new guy" in quality control. The guitar I received actually had high fret that was 3/64 higher than the rest at the 18th fret. I couldn't seat it so I ended up taking a brand new guitar to a local luthier to have it filed and re-crowned. One of the neck bolts was also loose so the neck kept popping. I tightened it a little over a quarter turn fairly easily with a screwdriver to lock it down. That being said, the guitar now plays incredibly. The pickups sound great and the neck is fast so I still gave it 4 stars. I am just weary of buying another Dean due to the quality issues.

Comments about Dean Custom 350F Electric Guitar:

I've never purchased a guitar without trying it first so to buy one of these blindly was a bit scary. As soon as I got the guitar (in transparent red) I fell in love with it. I never expected to be able to get a quality guitar with all the features I wanted, at such an affordable price. I've had this guitar for the past 5 years and it's still my go-to guitar.

Now, in the subject line, I put that I DID actually buy this item again. 100% true. I worked on ships for 5 years. The red C350f was my first that I bought and had shipped to me in Europe during my first contract. About 2 years later, I got sent to another ship on short notice and couldn't take my red C350f...so I bought another C350f in the Natural Finish. Equally great. Absolutely loved that guitar, but I sold it to a musician in Australia (No, it wasn't Angus Young).

I would highly recommend this guitar to players of just about any age...maybe not a beginner just because the Floyd Rose and the locking nut may be a bit much for a young player to have to deal with.

Comments about Dean Custom 350F Electric Guitar:

Let me get this out of the way, I have already written a review prior to getting a professional setup on my guitar and the guitar was very good, now it's awesome. First, the tone. As another reviewer stated the pickups are import versions of the DMT Nostalgia and DMT Equalizer pickups and they sound awesome. They compliment each other very well. Since my first review I have been playing some songs that the coil tap is needed and it doesn't disappoint on either pickup. I truly believe that Dean makes the best stock pickups in the business. These are better pickups than the EMG 81/85 combo I have in another Dean that cost me twice as much. The key, and I can't emphasize this enough, is to take this guitar or any new guitar to a luthier for a professional setup. As I discovered it's not just about setting the Floyd Rose up, but adjusting the pickup height as well. Next is playability. It has a modern C-Shaped neck that seems like it's compound radius and very easy to play. Access to the upper frets is great and the frets are dressed well and there are no overhanging or en-even frets. Lastly is looks, it is a stunning looking guitar. I have the Flame Maple Trans Blue and the finish is perfect. It's also very durable. My cat has knocked it off it's stand twice and it hasn't even sustained a scratch. But my cat knocking it down was a huge blessing in disguise. I had to take the guitar into the shop to have it set up again because it knocked the neck out of alignment, it came back from being a great sounding guitar to being an awesome sounding guitar. I have two other guitars that cost a whole lot more than this guitar, and are very good sounding guitars in their own right, but in all honesty this guitar sounds and plays better than both of them. Please disregard the negative reviews from people who have no idea how to properly set up a Floyd Rose equipped guitar. Because I have no idea how to properly set up a guitar myself, but I didn't screw up my guitar by trying to do it myself.

Comments about Dean Custom 350F Electric Guitar:

Bought this guitar about a year ago, I am pleased with it. It's not a Les Paul so, if you're going for that then don't buy this. For a nice, fairly cheap guitar with floyd rose I was surprised. Guitar pickups sound great, feels great, and the 25.5 scale is nice. I play Drop tuning with .56 and it handles them exceptionally well. Only issue I've had with it in the last year, is the bolts on the neck lock stripped easily (no, I did not over tighten them they just fell apart with a simple twist, it was odd). Replaced them with better ones and it's still excellent.

Great Guitar At Any Price

By Michael Wells

from Lexington, KY

Comments about Dean Custom 350F Electric Guitar:

I have had this guitar for a little over a year now, so I feel confident in writing this review. First, the sound. The Custom 350F sounds great. The factory pickups are very good and the coil tap works well. Pickups are a very individual thing according to personal taste, but this is my third Dean and they have all had great pickups. This one has a DMT Nostalgia in the neck and a DMT Equalizer in the bridge. I really think that Dean makes the best factory pickups, much better than the factory one's from ESP, Ibanez or any other makers that aren't named Gibson. You can really get any tone you want; from metal, classic rock, jazz or blues. The coil tap transforms it to a very clean machine. I have played it thru both of my amps; a solid state Acoustic Lead Series and an old Marshall hybrid Valvestate with a 12AX7 preamp and it sounds great thru both. Second is the playability. The neck is a C-Shaped and it is nice and thin. The back is unfinished and very fast. Easy to shred on. The action is a little higher than on my Mustaine Zero AOD2, but not by much. Over all, very playable. Lastly is fit and finish. This is a very sexy guitar. I bought the transparent blue and the flame maple top just looks incredible. This guitar has the sound, playability and looks that would easily compete with guitars in a much higher price point. This is a great guitar for any style and any level of player. As always with any guitar with a Floyd Rose, be weary of the pain the Floyd Rose can be. The Floyd on this model works well, which was a surprise; but like all Floyd equipped guitars be ready for a pain changing strings or tunings. If you are going to change tunings, I would think about investing in an EVH DropD Tuna.

I must say, I saw a lot of good reviews on this guitar but I had no idea how good it really was until I got it! And I'm not just saying that. I love this guitar. Stays in tune. I can use the floyd rose like a mad man and it always stays perfect! I love it! It has a great tone. And though some say it is just a metal guitar, I have made many of different sounds come out of this bad boy from blues to jazz, rockibilly up heavy metal! I would say BUY THIS GUITAR!! Wooooooooo!

    4 stars for the money

    By Sal A

    from Key West FL

Comments about Dean Custom 350F Electric Guitar:

I bought this and it was a demo model. It was set up great, witch made it play very well. There was a few blemishes on the neck but it was all cosmetic. As a demo model it was played on and the jack was lose. I put longer screws and tightened it no problem since. Stays in tune very well. I further ajusted the action at home and after playing deans higher end models this is comparable with just the slightest differnece in playability. I was not expecting the ease of play from this guitar. All this said, I am fairly new at playing so my experience is limited. But for the 300 bucks this was a great buy for me. When shopping for this I looked at the rg series and the prestiege series to gage what was out there and what I could get for the money. From what I had to chose from this was the best deal at the time and comparable play-ability to 600 or 700 dollar guitars. From my limited experience, owning a epiphone les paul, squirer strat and some other acoustics. This is easyer to play then both the others. Its length and neck are a good fit compared to the squire and epiphone. Action is comparable though the sound on the squirer is slightly better. hope this helps.
