Originally designed with elegance in mind, the Dean Cadillac Select Electric Guitar has only improved with age. It's offered with its original 1980 specifications including the select mahogany body and neck. Other appointmets include: multi-ply binding, rosewood fingerboard, block inlays and gold hardware. In addition, the new Cadillac is now available with a carved, highly figured flame or quilted maple top.
Like the Dean ML, the Caddy has appeared both onstage and in videos of many top artists over the past two decades. The Cadillac's biggest moment might have been the night it appeared on stage as the Dean endorsee walked away with five Grammy Awards.

This is the second Dean that I have owned, and hands down one of the sickest guitars I have ever played. I actually picked mine up at a pawn shop for <$300. Glad I finally got my hands on a Cadillac. Mine is the Cherry Burst and it looks very classy with the gold hardware and binding all around. It's not $3k Gibson nice, but it's very nice for the price. I play mostly metal, and Deans make very good metal guitars. The neck is fast and the pickups are hot. It has a very nice warm, clear tone when played through the clean channel of my tube anp as well. No guitar is perfect, especially at this price range, but the Caddy is pretty close for me. I'm going to sand down the back of the neck beccause I hate the gloss finish on the back of the neck. I'll probably replace the pickups as well, the stock ones are good but they could be better. Overall I love this guitar, the body shape and headstock add just the right amount of edge. I've been told the the shape of the headstock helps to stay in tune. I can say that this guitar stays in tune very well. I prefer les pauls over strats. I like a nice heavy solid guitar with a carved top. The Caddy has the feel of a lp and more, probably my design favorite ever.
For the money this is a great guitar. It is pretty and plays really well. The main problem is finding a case for it to fit in. The headstock won't allow it to fit in standard cases, and the Dean case for this guitar is like $200. Just keep that in mind.
This guitar is a combination of my 2 favorite guitars, a Les Paul and an Explorer. And boy does it sound amazing. Plays amazing too. I have never played a nicer Dean, and it will definitely be my next guitar!
I've just got mi Caddy. Man it's sounds like hell, got an amazing feedback and the strings sensitivity kinda simplifies soloing. Something I love about Dean guitars is that they are very versatile, you can play any kind of Metal with them, and the Cadillac model is not the exception, plus this guitar body is very attractive, a sweet fusion between a les paul and an explorer
I've been playin guitar for over 20 years and I've had this particular guitar for a little over a year now...love it!!! My main axe. I play metal and have it tuned to drop c. Great action everywhere pretty much right out of the box. I have only had to adjust the bridge and file the nut to accommodate some heavier gauge strings. Absolutely love the neck !!! Smooth!!! and the Les Paul Custom style block pearl inlays all the way to the head, just beautiful!!! The tiger eye finish was quite a bit different from the picture, alot more brown but also alot more detail. I replaced the bridge pick up with a Seymour Duncan Invader but to be honest didn't see much difference..the factories are pretty hot. The only bad thing I have to say is the "brass" hardware isn't brass. I tried polishing it with brasso only to find it took the brass completely off !!! For the money it's everything you need it to be, I play lead & I gig with it regularly. It's quite a bit lighter than a Les, which is a good thing as far as I'm concerned. I do not desire a replacement, but perhaps another for alternate tunings!!
This is an amazing guitar. I've had mine for 2 years and no problems at all. Looks and build quality are first rate, easily on par with my old Gibson LP Standard, although I would rate the Dean as better overall. Pickups are not noisy, they are bright, clean and capable of incredible distortion or beautiful clean tones when tapped. But they are powerful, and when putting through effects, especially distortion, you should use a noise gate, like with any other guitar. This guitar feels almost exactly like many a Les Paul Custom I have played over the years, and for my tastes, sounds better. Korean guitars can be amazing, and this is one of them. The cherry sunburst finish and maple top are stunning and the Cadillac shape has been a favorite of mine since I first saw one in the 80's. To finally get one is a dream come true. Now I just need to figure out which Dean I want next. Once you get one, you have to have another.
I have been playing guitar for about 3 years now, and I felt that it was time that I upgraded from my lower end guitar.I bought this guitar 3 months ago after reading 100s of reviews praising it. My first impression of the guitar was how nice the finish looked. It is a different color than it is in the picture of it (it is more orange than the picture). The maple top is gorgeous! The pickups that came on it are actually not bad, but I switched the bridge pickup out with an EMG. THIS GUITAR SOUNDS AWESOME! It has alot of high end sound to it, but the bass is also great. What surprised me about this guitar is how great this guitar sounds unplugged. It almost sounds acoustic! All in all, this guitar is well worth the money. Im very happy with this guitar, and I would recommend this guitar to anyone who is looking to step up, this is the guitar for you. The only problem I had is that it was hard to find a case for it. DO NOT ORDER A CASE FOR IT ONLINE!!!!!! TAKE IT TO THE STORE, AND FIND ONE THAT FITS IT. that is what I should have done in the first place. Buy this guitar, and you will be pleased.
and it plays and sounds as good as it looks. Great sustain. You can hit a note and it seems to go forever. I was planning on buying a new LP, but settled on this one instead. If I could just find a case for it.
First, I'd like to mention that the pickups on this guitar are not noisy. They're just sensitive, which is great for harmonics and long sustain. This guitar has a very heavy distorion sound and a very bright clear clean sound. The quality of the body is very good. The guitar has a very strong feel to it and it is very comfortable to play. Not only is the body built well but it looks very beautiful at the same time. The detail of the finish is absolutly amazing along with the pearl inlays and gold hardware. Also, the detail of the triming around the guitar really brings out it's looks. As for value, I think this guitar is a great deal. It sounds good and could be the most beautiful guitar I have ever seen.
Well i got this guitar expecting it to be amazing and when i got it,it was more than amazing it was the best guitar ive ever played!my friend has a Gibson SG and ive played thousands of times but when i got my caddy this thing was 10 times better.the tone is amazing for blues and metal and when you pop up its tone knobs it gives it a better tone, pickups are great but if you add Semor Ducan Invaders there unbelivable! If anyone wants to play a awesome guitar that will last you a life time with out spending like $3000 on a gibson that sounds half as good as any Dean than get this guitar!or get a Dean MLX thats also a great guitar!
