You can't beat this guitar for the price

By Ken

Comments about Dean CSCM Espana Solid Top Cutaway Acoustic-Electric Guitar:

This guitar was set up just perfect for me. The sound is very nice both acoustically and plugged in. The finish is top notch. The tuner is Ok but I use my own tuner. The guitar plays beautifully. I couldn't ask for anything more from a guitar in this price range. Inside you will find no messy glue left and the battery compartment is the best I have seen since it is so easy to change the battery. I have only one criticism - the frets needed dressing down as they were too sharp on the edges. I have smoothed them out and no further problems. I wholeheartedly recommend this guitar. Thank you Dean for a very nice guitar at a price I could not believe.

Good Guitar

By brett grantham

from Louisiana

Comments about Dean CSCM Espana Solid Top Cutaway Acoustic-Electric Guitar:

I have owned this guitar for more than three years, used it 5 days a week for two years to teach LKR, use it every Sunday, and still love it.
1/4" and mic cable outs open up your options for sound systems. This guitar has no strap buttons (being classical). I bought a classical strap that looped underneath and hooked in the tone hole; this ate up the lip and put a dint into the lacquer on the top. If you intend on standing while playing, have end buttons installed so you can use a standard strap. On board tuner is awesome as new classical strings stretch much more that metal strings.
I've dropped it a couple of times resulting in a couple of chips. Still going strong.
If your either looking for a different sound or you are looking for a nice classical acoustic electric, this is you guitar unless you really want to spend 4 times as much.

Pretty good value.

By David Winans

Comments about Dean CSCM Espana Solid Top Cutaway Acoustic-Electric Guitar:

I own a total of 12 guitars, I like a diversified sound so I figured I'd pick me up a classical guitar. I'd read a lot of good reviews on this guitar and decided to get it. When it first arived I was very pleased, aside from the fact it didn't come with a case. I've just ordered a hardshell case for it, but beside the point. I'm a busy guy with precious little free time, so the guitar ended up sitting in a gig bag I have for a month or two, and I only took it out once or twice to play it. Low an behold a few months later I noticed that there was some major fret buzz going on with the B string first fret. You know, the one you hammer on with those good Am riffs ;) Quite honestly one of the WORST frets to have buzz on given how much its used, and the highest E string didn't even change pitch between the first and second fret! It also had fret buzz all the way up to the 5th fret. Needless to say I was very aggrivated but I pulled out the handy allen wrench and adjusted the truss rod in hopes that it would fix the problem. Within about 15 minutes of tweaking I had that problem resolved. I was very much in fear I'd be paying more to repair this guitar than I bought it for. So the guitar is now back to having a great sound and no fret buzz. Now I'm done with the negative. Lets focus on the posotive. The looks of this guitar are awesome, very nice finish, as usual, pictures don't do it justice. It isn't jaw dropping by any means but its a dang nice looken guitar. I like the look of the tuners. There is a good pre-amp for adjusting your sound when plugged in. I must say, I enjoy the sound of this Acousticly, but plugged in is where it really shines, absolutely awesome sound. When I learn to finger pick decently I might make this baby sing.My third favorite feature is the cutaway. I've looked for that feature on all acoustic guitars that i've bought. Given its a classical guitar this gives it a more modern look and feel. The only complaint I have (besides having to tweak the truss rodd) is that there isn't a built in tuner. I REALLY wish this would have been included. Its not a huge deal, but its very convinient to have a built in tuner when your around a campfire playing and your guitar goes out of tune, rather than having to bring one along. This is the only Acoustic-Electric I've bought without one.All in all I'm happy with my purchase, and with a good hardshell case coming for it I can ensure that its protected well and hopefully I'll never run into the fret buzzing problem again.

A Classical Guitar for Electric Players

By tubehappy

from Detroit area

Comments about Dean CSCM Espana Solid Top Cutaway Acoustic-Electric Guitar:

The CSCM is not your typical classical guitar. First of all, it has a preamp with a four band EQ and built in tuner- a very handy feature, by the way. In addition to the expected 1/4" jack, there's a true balanced output and 3-pin microphone connector- perfect for running straight into a board for PA or recording. The neck is of average width at roughly 2-1/8, but it's about 3/4" thick at the headstock, and maintains this all the way down to the heel, which puts it very much on the thin side- something electric players will find comfortable. Perhaps as a concession to the thin neck, there's an adjustable steel truss rod running the length of the neck, accessible through the sound hole. Nylon string guitars really don't need truss rods, and the presence of the rod tends to damp the sound and make the guitar neck heavy, which makes it a bit difficult to play in standard classical or flamenco positions.Of course, the CSCM is not intended for these players. I see it more as a classical style guitar aimed at steel string and electric players looking to expand their sound palette a bit. I bought mine- a condition 4 ("needs repair") used instrument- for playing fingerstyle jazz and Brazilian music, and for that, it's pretty good.

very good guitar for the price

By Henry Man

Comments about Dean CSCM Espana Solid Top Cutaway Acoustic-Electric Guitar:

I got this one after waiting for 2+ months on ibanez AEF20. found this by accident while browsing around. Got a price match from online store and finally bought it. both GC and MF don't list all features on this baby. Pros: -price and features: a guitar with dual output (XLR and 1/4' jack) -solid cedar top -action rod for adjustable neck action (very rare on classical guitars), clean sound with great tonality and sustain. -built-in tuner is better than I expected Cons: -No strap buttons (unlike the Ibanez that I originally ordered) -regular classical neck (a little wide compared to the ibanez) -slightly bigger body so it might be a tight fit for regular case fitted for classical guitar

Sweet Guitar!

By hotspanishlguitarlove

from Tampa, FL

Comments about Dean CSCM Espana Solid Top Cutaway Acoustic-Electric Guitar:

I have had this guitar for over three years. For the price it is a great guitar, the bass tones are a bit weak especially when played electric. However, the overall sound is pretty good. The onboard tuner and pre-amp are nice, my only knock here is the Z input I constantly had problems with when trying to use. The neck is narrower than most classicals, making this guitar easier to play. If this is your first classical guitar you will love it, but don't be upset if it doesn't match the true sound of a classical guitar, as it is a bit to heavy on the treble side.

If you want smooth, this guitar is melted butter.

Comments about Dean CSCM Espana Solid Top Cutaway Acoustic-Electric Guitar:

I have been playing an extremely low-end classical guitar for a few years now & decided that an upgrade was definitely in order. I shopped around & found that this guitar not only had a great rating, but was also well within my price range. I was astonished when I received this guitar. It has the wide neck that I prefer on a classical guitar, & the tuners look like those found on far more expensive guitars. The finish is flawless. Not only does the guitar itself look very classy, but it has great tonality. It sounds wonderful completely acoustic, & even better when I run it straight into my PA. The XLR jacks allow for some superb sound quality. I mostly do solo acoustic shows, & this guitar will make set-up a breeze. I recommend it to anyone looking for a great classical for a reasonable price.

Comments about Dean CSCM Espana Solid Top Cutaway Acoustic-Electric Guitar:

We love this guitar, with its solid top and solid craftsmanship, virtually flawless!!! the electronics are just fantastic!!! on board tuner too!!! it plays beautifully! we are definitely buying another one! We own some ibanez gac6e and they don't come even close. If you don't want to spend an arm and a leg for a guitar yet get a high end instrument, this is the one!

Great Guitar

By Danielle

from Virginia

Comments about Dean CSCM Espana Solid Top Cutaway Acoustic-Electric Guitar:

I have had this guitar for about three years now and I have moved over three times. It is still in once peice and it still plays very well. This is not the best guitar I have played but it is very durable and I still love it. The built-in tuner is very easy to use (especially for beginners!) The first three strings on my guitar are nylon and they were great when I was first learning because they weren't as hard on my fingers. I absolutely reccomend this guitar for beginners or someone who is looking for a guitar that will last a long time!

Dean CSCM Espana

By BrianJonesLives

from Nutley, NJ

Comments about Dean CSCM Espana Solid Top Cutaway Acoustic-Electric Guitar:

I tried many value-priced classical guitars, and the Dean just blew them all away. It is a little more expensive than the super-budget priced though. I am not a classical player, more of a Willie Nelson picking and strumming with a pick style. The solid top makes a world of difference in the sound of this guitar. The fit and finish is superb, and the preamp does the job. The only complaint I have is the action. I don't know what expectations are of most classical guitars, but the action on this one becomes more of a problem as you travel up the neck. Not the end of the world, but it makes bar chords a little challenging. Overall, great guitar for the price, I'm even using it in place of my steel string dreadnought on stage!
