  • Dean's Rule

As reviewed by KTC on 10/24/2010

I love it. The lead guitarist for my band has a Gibson Explorer, and honestly it hardly compares to this guitar. The neck is thinner and the pickups are a lot hotter. Only thing it's missing is a Floyd Rose. I love the kill switch, it's very fun to play with. Although it's an over-sized guitar, it's one of the lightest guitars I've played. I play my guitar through a Boss Metal Zone pedal and a Marshall stack, and it gets some really sweet tones. The harmonics are amazing. the bends are easy, and the action is great. I love playing riffs written by amazing bands such as Megadeth, Slayer, Sodom, Iron Maiden and Pantera, and this guitar can do it perfectly. One of these days I'm going to install a Dimebucker Pickup and further the tonal capability of this guitar. If you want a great metal tone and something that turns heads for an affordable price. Pick up a Dean Db!

  • Very Good Guitar

As reviewed by Roy on 4/23/2011

I've had this guitar for around 8 months, and it is a very good guitar. The killswitch is a very cool feature. I don't give it 5 stars for a few reasons: 1. It always gives off a really loud, buzzy feedback (but that can be fixed with a noise gate, so it's not that big of a deal.) 2. It is massive, and it gives you a hard time with stage presence and stuff like that. 3. It doesn't stay in tune that well. But other than that, it has a really good, chuggy tone on the treble channel, and has a breathtaking tone on the bass channel. Although I don't use it as much as other guitars that I have, I still do not regret spending the $400 on this one. I'd definitely recommend it to anyone looking for a heavy sounding guitar, or something that will give you a very clean sound as well.
