These are the strings recommended by Jack Casady, the master of tonality. Pay attention. These are the standard recommended strings for the Casady Signature Bass (which itself is a masterpiece in tone). At one time he made the claim that he strings all his basses with these. I can only agree. They are very sensitive, and therefore personal results will vary. But it is that awesome sensitivity that allows for tonal control. Their responsiveness is awesome. Lively, deep and bright. With proper adjustment they will punch with the best. But then again, these may be the very best there is. Chordal tones are exquisite.
Pretty smooth for round wounds. Deep, punchy and bright. Able to produce beautiful bass chords.
I've used them exclusively on my basses for over ten years. Only broke one. They seem to hold their tone for a long, long time.

Having played with quite a few strings, i have realized that there are only a couple of really great strings! The best probably being elixir's "nanoweb," and the other being dean markley's "blue steel." I would recommend to anyone wanting a GREAT, long-lasting set of strings to go with elixir. But if you don't have enough money to do so, blue steel offers good sounding strings that don't out-last elixir but will out-last almost any other set of strings.

Comments about Dean Markley 2674 Blue Steel Cryogenic Medium Light Bass Strings:

If you haven't tried Blue Steel or thought the cryogenic treatment of strings was a bunch of hooey, simply try them.
I'm sure you have your favorites but you just may find these perform better...(Crisper highs and lows) and will most definitely last and play longer than 90% of what's on the market.
I have never had one break on me yet.
I know you won't say these are terrible or they stink, that's for sure because they are top quality strings....but you just may say these are the best..I've had them on my bass for years..(different sets of course) But they do seem to last a full year...
I will say I just put a new set on last week and the break in period (going out of tune) was practically non existent.. They do however take a few hours to wear in and lose that sometimes high end tinny sound..
But perhaps this was because I use the medium (45-105) instead of the heavy.

Comments about Dean Markley 2674 Blue Steel Cryogenic Medium Light Bass Strings:

I've been playing bass for over 35 years and started using Blue Steel bass strings around 25 years ago. I have tried other strings (Rotosound, GHS Boomers and a few others) but nothing compares to the feel, sound and quality of these. Once I started using these I never went back to other brands. I have played Ricks and Fenders for the most part also a Thunderbird for awhile. They were perfect on all of these basses. I should add I never broke a Blue Steel string. I love the "zing and zang" that you get from these strings. That's the best way to describe the sound. Give them a try. If I could be endorsed by any company it would be this one because I'm proud to be an avid user of this product.

I'm going to keep it simple. These are the best strings I have ever used. I put these on my 90's G&L SB-1 p-bass and it came alive like never before. Love these strings

Comments about Dean Markley 2674 Blue Steel Cryogenic Medium Light Bass Strings:

I have used the strings for the last 20 or so years, being a performing bass player. I've tried others but ALWAYS end up coming back to the Dean Markley Blue Steels. I even use them for my guitars (both electric and acoustic). The current set I have on my 4 string bass have been on for about 2.5 yrs. and STILL sound great. Granted, they don't (nor could) sound like a brand new set but these are the ONLY strings I've encountered that retain their sound longer than any other bass strings I've tried.

Comments about Dean Markley 2674 Blue Steel Cryogenic Medium Light Bass Strings:

I've been playing bass for over 40 years, and using Blue Steels for almost half that time. Early on, I used Rotosounds (expensive), D'Addario (short life), and Ernie Ball (inconsistent...had dead strings out of the package).

I typically go for a bright and grinding tone (think Chris Squire, dUg Pinnick), and probably change bass strings more in a year than some players do in a life time (typically every other show). I've gone through hundreds of sets and never had a problem with Blue Steels. And now, they're packing them in a moisture proof barrier (way to go).

For the money, I haven't found a better bass string. I just wish it was possible to order singles (I usually kill the low E before the other strings).

These are my favorite strings, that I ever used.I have been using Blue steel since the late eighties when they first came out. They have a bright top end and a tight bottom end.I put EMG pickups in my Marcus jazz bass, and these sound the best with them.Very long lasting strings that stay in tune great.

Comments about Dean Markley 2674 Blue Steel Cryogenic Medium Light Bass Strings:

I bought these strings on a wimm. Was at Guitar Center and they were on sale. Living on a budget (as a musician we most all live for a bargain on musical equiptment) so I bought a pack of the Blue Steel 2674. WOW I was immediatly impressed of the punch these babies put out. So then I went back and bought the rest they had on the sale rack. The Lows are the best Ive ever had and the strings are balanced From the E to the G string. These Babies are just plain Full,Fat,clean, and clear that I have not experienced in a long time. The 80's I used Roto Sounds, The ninety's were D'Addarios the 2000's till now were Elixer nanos, D'Addarios, and some Slinky's. Now until arthritus sets in it will be Blue Steels till the end. They are just plain and simple the Best Bass strings out there for the same price as others. Kids If you are using those Chinese made amps do yourself some flavor(Favor) and add some tone to your rig. Instead of shelling out big bucks for a pedal try $20 bucks and add some Thump and Tone.
