I don't know where all of these positive reviews come from, but every experience I've had with the "nickelsteels" has been horrible.I purchased a new set and put them on one of my guitars (grover tuners, great hardware & set-up). Even after stretching and playing for awhile, I'd tune it up, strike 2 or 3 chords, and the whole guitar would go out of tune. It was impossible to record with or even perform with. This went on for 2-3 weeks until I finally took the (still new) set off and replaced them with something else. A year later or so I found another pack on clearance at a guitar retailer and I thought I'd try them again. I put them on a different guitar (vintage tuners & hardware), and I had a very similar problem. The tuning slips after a few chords, and if you are a lead guitarist, just forget it. The sound of the strings is crisp and bright but all the crispness and cut in the world won't matter if you're playing a poorly-tuned instrument. As I said, I don't know where the positive reviews are coming from but these are the second worst string I've tried next to the dollar-bin Dr. Duck's. Stay away and try Blue Steels instead.

Used these for years-many years. Tried Fender, GHS, Ernie Ball, Gibson, D'Adario. Always back to these.

Wow

By Michael Fenton

from Orillia, Ontario

Comments about Dean Markley 2502 Light NickelSteel Electric Guitar Strings:

I bought three packs from a local store for my guitars just to try them out hearing that they were fairly good. That could not be more wrong. I opened the first pack to find that all by the low E string had corroded. I thought that this was just going to be one pack and that the other two would be better. I was incorrect the other two both had a similar issue where either all or some of the strings had corroded to the point that I will now have to go out and buy some more strings.

Comments about Dean Markley 2502 Light NickelSteel Electric Guitar Strings:

Not so good for country
I wish the high E was a little heavier guage.Had it brake on me after a couple of weeks of moderate playing.

The Amazing String

By Alex Sagert

from Undisclosed

Comments about Dean Markley 2502 Light NickelSteel Electric Guitar Strings:

These strings are for classic rock and dreaming players. They're better then my old Fender extra light strings. The high E string broke because it was too light. These are just the right gauge for thousands of songs. Please get this at a music store near you.

Cheap and cheaper

By Sean-5VNt_

from Portage la Prairie, Manitoba, Canada

Comments about Dean Markley 2502 Light NickelSteel Electric Guitar Strings:

I picked these up hoping for an alternative to the ghs Boomer series, and I figured Dean Markley was a well-known name, so I picked them up. After slaving over my Floyd Rose getting them mounted, I was incredibly disappointed with the rattling, tinny and altogether cheap tone these strings put out. The high G, B, E strings have no sustain and thud a lot, and the bottom three buzz for no reason with terrible tone, even at incredibly high action. The harmonics were dead and the open strings ring with muddy clarity. Will not be picking these strings up ever again. AVOID THEM.

The Best!

By Romeo Ali

from Miami, Florida

Comments about Dean Markley 2502 Light NickelSteel Electric Guitar Strings:

I have used these strings (9's) for years and they are the best. I tried all the other brands, from Ernie Ball to GHS and nothing lasts or keeps the bright tone longer. I even rate these above the 'Blue Steel' by the same manufacturer.

Long lasting, great tone

By Johnny Guitar

from Milwaukee, WI

Comments about Dean Markley 2502 Light NickelSteel Electric Guitar Strings:

I have played Dean Markley strings for a long time. They are the longest lasting strings I have ever played, and I've tried a lot of different brands including D'Addiaro, Ernie Ball, GHS... which all break quite easily. Dean Markleys also deliver great tone. It surprises me that more local retailers do not carry Dean Markleys. I would highly recommend these strings to any player. I use Dean Markleys exclusively.

Could Have Been Better..

By Bluz820

from Naperville, IL

Comments about Dean Markley 2502 Light NickelSteel Electric Guitar Strings:

Good sounding strings but they don't last long. After about 3 hours of playing they sound dead and won't stay in tune. Not good for guitar players who cannot afford to change their strings every week.

Great Strings

Comments about Dean Markley 2502 Light NickelSteel Electric Guitar Strings:

These are great strings! They bend very smoothly and easily. I've tried peavys and D'Addarios but I like these the best.
