Switched to Blue Steel and never looked back...

By Beveled Edges

from Ashburn, VA

Comments about Dean Markley 2036 Blue Steel Cryogenic Medium Light Acoustic Guitar Strings:

For several years, I used a variety of strings. I tried a new brand every time, until I bought a set of Dean Markley Blue Steel strings. Since then, they have been my string of choice. The tone of the strings on my Guild is second to none. They usually get replaced when I get tired of looking at dingy strings. At first, I had problems with the E and B strings breaking, but a luthier friend suggested looking at the nut and saddle, not the strings. Great advice! I had a new bone nut and saddle installed and professionally adjusted and no more breakage!

Cryogenic Strings

By GuitarPlayer

from Undisclosed

Comments about Dean Markley 2036 Blue Steel Cryogenic Medium Light Acoustic Guitar Strings:

Although these strings do their job, I am not sure that the "liquid nitrogen" part of their manufacturing really helps at all. They sound ok and last about the same as most other strings. They are slightly more expensive than some D'Addarios and Martins and arent really any better. The idea is cool but you are just left with average strings.

Some Of the Greatest Strings Ever!

By Charles DeWeese

Comments about Dean Markley 2036 Blue Steel Cryogenic Medium Light Acoustic Guitar Strings:

92% Copper 8 % Zinc! That's how I like 'em. These strings are the perfect string for my Epiphone Masterbilt DR500RNS. I love these strings much better than costlier strings. Those cryogenics are amazing treatment for this string. I love this tone! I've been using them for a year and a half already and I just ordered 3 more sets. Dean Markley makes great acoustic strings. They last a good while too. They give such a sweet tone when I am playing worship music in my congregation. They sound so good it makes me cry on a number of occasions.

Repeat customer

Comments about Dean Markley 2036 Blue Steel Cryogenic Medium Light Acoustic Guitar Strings:

As with another review I had my 1997 Taylor 710CE refitted with a bone nut and saddle which made a tremendous difference to start with. However, trying to find the right strings proved a challenge. I had tried the Blue Steel before and liked them, yet after the refit thought other brands would sound even better. I was sadly disappointed at the pricier strings just not having the right tone. There seemed to be a sourness that wouldn't seem to tune correctly. I turned back to Blue Steel and there's just a balance with these strings that I can't get with any other. Now, that's not to say other strings wouldn't work for other brands of guitars. I have found that guitars have their own personality and not all strings will sound the same. For Taylor guitars though, I have found several peer musicians prefer the Blue Steel and sure enough, this Taylor owner is among those who are sticking with Blue Steel.

Comments about Dean Markley 2036 Blue Steel Cryogenic Medium Light Acoustic Guitar Strings:

In 1991 I saw the add for the new Cryogenic strings by Dean Markley. When I put the first pair on I could hear they were a definite step up. I started out using the heaviest guage set for the first few years. After learning more lead play I moved to the medium and then the medium light. They have always lived up to the raving reviews you can read everywhere. I've written 3 dozen songs on them. They are very DURABLE. I most generaly change them every couple of months on my good 'ol 'beater' to get back to the nicer new string tone, but most of the time the strings I take off are still usable. I use medium light on my Martin cutaway, the sound is pro quality. Bright without too much bell tone, beautiful mids, smooth nice lows.
