NEW REVIEW - Not so sure about this one...

I bought one of these for a 1979 Takamine 12 string I play that I don't care to carve up to install the connector end of a piezo. Two issues - the signal level out of it is very low, especially compared to the piezo outputs in my other acoustics. The other is that it sounds like it is distorted or trying to break up when driven the least little bit a bit (like it might with 12 strings driving it, rather than 6...). It's so-so through an amp, and bad on the recorder. Too bad, because the guitar sounds like sweet nectar through a mic. Its probably on its way back to Guitar Center this week for an exchange of some kind. The only plus is - no batteries required... I am not impressed with this unit.

Pick up this pick up

I bought this pick up to mic my acoustic guitar. I made numerous recordings using this pick up and really loved the sound it produced. The best part about this pick up is that it doesn't require any modification to your current guitar (drilling/holes/ect).

Amazing.

This little thing is amazing. I use it with my Yamaha F-325. It sounds pretty good even with distortion. I really only got this to record with higher volume, but the only downside is that it doesn't pick up the taps on the body. That's mostly the stuff I play on acoustic. Overall, this is awesome.

A Really Nice Pickup for the Price

This is a really sweet pickup, which really makes things easy for someone like me who is just starting out. I appreciate how easy it is to use it with my digital tuner and how I can just plug it into any amp or pedal. Sure, it took a bit of time and practice to adjust my style of strumming and picking, but the freedom of not needing a second mic makes it all worth the effort. It'll be a while before I can get my first acoustic-electric, but until then this is a great way to plug in and play.

Great acoustic pickup

I've owned one of these Dean Markley acoustic pickups for at least 10 years and can say it's great for what it does and is simple to mount and use and has never hindered my strumming or picking. The natural acoustic tone of a guitar is nicely amplified by the pickup, but I would definately suggest using an equalizer pedal to help squash feedback frequencies and to lower the bass response, which can be overwhelming depening on your style and gauge of strings and result in sustaining longer than needed. This pickup has never let me down, either using it live or to record.
