  • incredible variations of tonality

As reviewed by vinni on 10/8/2009

i bought the paduk (padauk) exotic african hard wood. i'm a 15 year player and when i picked this axe up all it took was an open strum of loudness and clarity. scince the wood is hard and a bit heavier i would consider this to be the les paul of acoustics. the unplugged sound is rich and warm with a brightness all of its own. plugged it in and man you have a whole different variation and spin onto its already heavy tonality because of the e.q., you can get any tone you want. i personally like the darker tones it can produce because this one is a one of a kind of acoustic. i never thought i would see the day i would play a dean but my front man has the maple version and when you join the 2 different wood tonalities it makes for a killer tonal duality. and for the price of the package deal i got you absolutely cannot beat the exotica series. i gotta give it up to dean they've stepped up their game with the exotica series. i would recommend these guitars to beginners and pros alike. i won't mention any names but the guitar i was originally going to buy was 5 times the price difference.....go check any exotica out, find the right wood tone for you and your set. i will always hold this one with respect. love it!!!!

  • Sweet!

As reviewed by Albert on 10/4/2009

Bought this guitar two days ago, I seen the advertised on the Dean web site. went to Guitar center, and tried it out, all I can say is "wow". the tone was awesome, sort of light, and dark, at the same time. the equalizer, and on board tuner was great, and worked real well. I don't have any complaints, one sweet axe.....

  • Great sounding and beautiful guitar

As reviewed by Jim Bowers on 1/19/2012

I bought my Dean Paduk three weeks ago and got a great deal from Guitar Center. I love the guitar but the finish could be better in a couple of places as it is a little rough in spots.I don't know if this is due to the type of wood or that it was finished over an imperfection. Overall it is beautiful though. The wood was matched just right to make it look gorgeous. I also had a problem with a wire coming loose from the plug going into the pre-amp, but the guys at Guitar Center patched it up so I could use it until a new part could be ordered under warranty from Dean. The guitar sounds great especially after having it set up. The sound is warm and the sustain is incredible. I love playing it as the neck and feel of the bout is great.
