Great Buy

Great sound! I love the slim neck, it fits my small hands like a glove. It looks as good as it sounds. The best bass I have found for the price!

great.....for the price

pros: .gives you complete control over your bass' sounds with 4 knobs. 1 for treble, 1 for bass, 1 for volume, and 1 for punch and clarity .for 164$ (tax included) this bass is very good, AND it's active, wow. it sounds so much richer than my yamaha rbx170 .the two humbuckers capture your sound a lot better than p/j pickups cons: .the neck is very very very slow .it gets out of tune easily .the worst part of this bass are the frets, thery very small, and you can't bend on them. they hold your strings with a lot of friction. .when the bass arrived to my house in the box, it needed A LOT of cleaning. it took me a whole day to clean it. the fretboard was very very dry, so i had to apply a ton of cleaner and conditioner products to get the dust off of it and make it a little moist. the bridge's screws had green mold on them, so i had to remove that too. i had to wipe-off the dust on the body and neck. and i had to apply new strings to it because it's factory strings were so cheap, i couldn't even play on them. but once i delt with all the cleaning, this baby was ready to roll....rock and roll that is :)

All in all a very decent bass

The original strings may need changing but its sleek, sexy and plays great. The slender neck very much facilitates playing atleast for me and the second pick-up isn't only helpful soundwise but I find it makes for a better thumb rest with its lower position on the body. The one thing that peeved me greatly is the fact that I was lied to by not one but two seperate Guitar Center representatives who claimed that the entire thing was classic black in color, when in reality the dorsal neck has a wooden finish to it. I'm very disappointed in them and the disservice they did to me and I won't be sending it back since I don't have another week to wait for my bass. I think I'll be looking elsewhere for my guitars and guitar accessories but all in all its a very decent bass, especially for the price and I'd definitely recommend it.

Great for home recording

I bought this bass to round out my home recording studio. The main feature that prompted me to buy it was the active pick ups, which are ideal for line-in recording. I have used it both line-in, and miked through an amp. I have been satisfied with the overall sound quality in both applications. I bought the classic black blemished model to get the lower price. I'm still not certain what the blemish is. Perhaps it is the knobs which are not quite smooth when turned. The knobs do allow for convenient tone change with a volume, tone, contour, and gain control. Each knob controls both pickups at once. As more than one reviewer has stated, it comes in less than ready to play condition. However, if you adjust the truss rod, intonation, string height, and the radius, it plays just fine. Many really good sites for this can be found on the internet. In short, I highly recommend this instrument to anyone who is less than a pro playing gigs. It is a steal for the money.

Dean Edge 10a -Great for beginners!

I bought this bass in July, and I'm very pleased with it. It kicks out an insane tone, and is also very loud on my Orange Crush 20B. This is my first bass. The only problem I have with it is the strings. The Dean strings need to be changed right off. I would recommend Ernie Ball slinky's. Other than that, it stays in tune for days, but it will start to fade to flat after a few times playing. As the title says, this bass is great for the beginner bass player.
