Availability:

An affordable bass with all the classic tones you've been hearing for years.

The Dean Edge 10 PJ Electric Bass reflects every bit of Dean's 20-plus years of experience in designing bass guitars. It has a light basswood body that is styled and contoured for comfort. The 34" scale maple neck is profiled to be fast playing and sleek feeling. A custom-design neck joint and heel along with an asymmetrical 4-bolt pattern create uninterrupted access all the way up the 2-octave rosewood fretboard. This bass was my first one. It was great for learning due to the distance between the strings near the bridge. However, this bass has a particularly annoying issue with fret noise. Perhaps it was my particular bass that has that problem, but if you play just about any note with a large amount of power behind it, you will get some fret noise. This will be even more prevalent if you install heavy gauge strings like i have. The pickups could be a bit better quality. The sound is kind of muddy in the lower range and harsh in the high range. I had an issue with something in the bass vibrating when i played the top string, but that seems to have gone away. The balance of the bass is very very well done. Let go of the neck, and the bass does not move an inch. The head is very light and does not even give a hint of neck dive (which is a relief compared to my epiphone thunderbird IV). all in all, this is a great bass to get started on, but after a while, it will leave you wanting something more.

This is my first bass guitar...It's a very gorgeous looking bass, but I had no idea basses were so freaking heavy! I play acoustic and electric guitar, so since those are so much lighter this surprised me. I don't have much experience with bass guitars, though I do think this has a clean sound. One thing I noticed is that a volume knob seems to be tighter than the rest. That's no big deal, and it may have been done purposely because I think it's the main volume knob.
