I played one of these at a local music store and was totally underwelmed. The look and quality are comperable to other low end, laminate Chinese instruments. bad action, poor sound, overall a waste of your money. If you are an experienced manolin player you wouldn't take a second look at the Dean. If you're new to mandolin (which is who Dean is trying to sell this to) you can pick up a nice A-Style made of sold woods which will blow this one away for about the same price. Don't let that fancy looking scroll work fool you, this is a poor quality instrument. People familiar with Dean know that they do make a handfull of good, economy instruments and they also put out some outright junk. This mandolin falls in the latter catagory.
This mandolin not only looks good, it sounds good also. The price could be a little lower, but over all it is totally worth the money.
