The Dean 12 Gauge Solid Top Cutaway Acoustic-Electric Guitar w/Aphex has some unique features and special electronics that are designed to produce improved acoustic sound on stage. This guitar is also available without cutaway (our sku # H73781).
The Dean 12 Gauge lives up to its name with a mahogany gun stock pickguard and a shotgun shell knob inlay at the 12th fret. Acoustically, this guitar produces a loud and well-balanced sound thanks to its solid spruce top and mahogany body. Other refinements include a comfortable mahogany C shape neck, maple dot inlays, nickel hardware, and APHEX electronics.
Aurel Exciter
Optimized for Dean's acoustic/electric guitars, the Aurel Exciter adds air, bite, definition, percussive attack, and better clarity by enhancing the natural harmonics of the sound. No other exciter has the musicality of the true Aurel Exciter found in Dena acoustic/electric guitars.
Big Bottom
The Aphex Big Bottom circuit dynamically enhances the low end by deepening and expanding the bass tones according to an adaptive process. It's not just an equalizer boost - it increases volume before feedback. The effect fattens the tone while it extends the guitar's bass producing capability.
