Amazingly authentic sound!

I recieved a De Armond as a birthday present. In the case, its shape and size made it seem like it would be a violin, but much to my suprise turned out to be a travelers bass with rubber strings!!Perplexed and courious I plugged it in. It sounds like a freaking bass guitar!! I couldnt believe how authentic it sounds. Now the bass in itself is very small, which of course leads to small frets and a different feel for playing, but that is more to do with the bass itself, not the strings. But here is how the strings do make a difference; since they are made of rubber, they slide like rubber...which is to say, there is considerable resistance, and not smooth like regular strings. They say the answer to this is to use baby power to smooth the resistance out. Also, they are not ideal for slap bass and various technics like such. But for good old grooving, this will do. An awesome buy for the traveling musician, begining bassist, and experimental musicians. A bad buy for seriouse bass players.
