This metal-shelled 6-1/2" x 13" snare drum is precision-hammered in a dimpled golf ball pattern by a computer-controlled process, then powder-coated to capture the essence of the links. 15 holes are drilled into the shell (ddrum tried to get 18 holes in but there wasn't enough room). The holes are drilled between the slightly offset lugs to add attack and control to the shell, and die-cast hoops are added on each side for volume and articulation. The result is a snare drum that slams with the power of a 9-iron in the hands of a champion yet with the sensitivity of a master-stroke putter.

THe snare is a good looking snare but, to change up the sound is really hard to do. i have this snare now and i have the remo black suede head on it. and remo Hazy bottem head on it. Its not a bad buy, Its foe people who like only one type of a suond. That would be loud, high pop sound. Hope this helps you!!!!!!
I'm very pleased at the versatility of this snare drum. When tuned medium, you get a low pitched, punchy sound for loud epic songs or for a worship/contemporary music setting, tune it up about 280 degrees and you can get a high poppy sound for more up-beat songs. the top head needs replacing i recommend the powerstroke 3 (DON'T EVER GET BLACK SUADE) the bottom head is fine. All in all a great snare for an unbeatable price (oh and the drummer for Attack Attack uses this snare i believe)
First thing that caught my eye was the look of this snare. It's got to be one of the more unique of snare designs out there, AND it's made by ddrum. You really can't go wrong with this snare, and if you're a talented drummer you should know how to tune to the sound you want. My brother in law used this to record his EP in The Word Alive, and it sounds more than incredible recorded too.
I got this snare for Christmas last year and didn't use it until around march because i had another type of snare that i was using at the time. I also wasn't a fan of DDrum at the time. When i finally used it with a coated remo powerstoke 3 head it actually blew me away. The sound is crisp and when you tune it to your liking, it will the best for its price. Even the pastor of the church i was playing for at the time complimented on the look and the sound. Someone offered me double what i payed and i sold it to him and bought me another one. The sound is just that good.
