Overview

The Danelectro Modified Factory Spec 1959 Reissue is virtually identical to the classic electric guitar after which it's modeled. Manufactured from the mid '50s through the late '60s the original Danelectro guitar was sold in popular mail-order catalogs of the day. The reissue boasts an improved bridge that replaces the rosewood saddle with one made of metal to give you individually adjustable saddles for each string.

The double cutaway Danelectro reissue guitar's body is constructed of Masonite and poplar with textured tape on the sides. The poplar neck bolts on and boasts a rosewood fretboard with the unique Danelectro "bottle" shaped headstock, and vintage-style tuners with metal buttons.

Perhaps the most distinctive features of the Danelectro Modified Factor Spec 1959 Reissue guitar are its lipstick pickups. In the original they were constructed of alnico bar magnets and copper wire wrapped in brown tape and mounted in surplus, chrome-plated, lipstick tubes.

Other Danelectro Modified Factory Spec 1959 Reissue Electric Guitar details include dual concentric tone and volume controls with white knobs, a white "seal" pickguard, and a non-adjustable aluminum truss rod.

A Classic

By Brian

Comments about Danelectro Modified Factory Spec 1959 Reissue Electric Guitar:

The Danelectro guitars are meant to have a sound of their own. They do. Great guitar for alternate tunings, slide, or regular tuning. Played great out of the box. The shipping strings need to go asap, as they come with a black goo on them, lubricant I guess? The guitars are made out of Poplar, and Masonite (clipboard material). They don't cost alot, because they are cheaply made, and presently in China. Having played an original DC59, and other original Dano models, the new re-issue feels just like the old ones...cheaply made guitars that play very well, have their niche sound, and are alot of fun to play. The retro look makes for a few good conversations... show up at your next jam or gig with one of these instead of the Les Paul. You're either looking for this guitar as you know what you want it for, or you should try one out before you buy one. They are a breed of their own. Good job GC, order and delivery went perfectly, guitar showed up in perfect shape, and readily playable. Oh, one last note: the truss rods ARE adjustable. Before purchase, I contacted Danlelectro, and a Marcy mailed me back, that they are indeed adjustable. Guess that's why I got an allen wrench with it... :) I've physically confirmed they are adjustable.

Kasmir On The Rocks

By Vance Sellers

from Palmdale,Ca.

Comments about Danelectro Modified Factory Spec 1959 Reissue Electric Guitar:

This guitar rocks and didn't cost a fortune. If you want this guitar but your not sure because it's priced low and your afraid its quality is cheap and its not a good guitar then your wrong. The only thing that got my attention is that the guitar jack is attached to the pick gaurd and when you pull the jack out the pick gaurd comes up with the guitar jack.So you need to hold the pick guard down when pulling jack out.But if you look at Jimmy Pages Danoelectro the screws are at the same locations, its made the same way. This does effect the qaulity of the sound this baby puts out. It's really amazing that a guitar at this price has such a great sound for the money.I have other expencesive guitars and this one has become a favorite and I cant put it down. Great for Led Zeppelin fans and other tpyes of music because the pick ups put out a great sound.Like people say this guitar is not made of expencesive material but does put out a classic sound of its own. I do recommend this guitar to any guitar player. I love to play Kasmir on this baby because it makes you feel like your getting a Whole Lotta Love. When you play this guitar you will not be sorry you bought one.

The beast

Comments about Danelectro Modified Factory Spec 1959 Reissue Electric Guitar:

I bought this guitar in August 2010 and I haven't stop playing on her since that time. It's very versatile, I think you can play almost every genre with this actually very pretty guitar, I play mostly metal and pretty shredded, but I would have no doubt about using it for jazz, alternative, pop even country. I'm using a lot of tunings and I have to say that I love the tremolo on this guitar ! Even if you go for lower tunings, strings don't get loose. The lipstick pick-ups are a piece of masterwork too... THE SOUND of this guitar will blow you away even with factory strings. Absolutely love it, and of course for the price you can't do anything else. I would buy it, even if I'd never heard about Jimmy Page and Kashmir. Strongly recommend.
