I played this Denelectro Medal pedal at a local shop, and it sounds amazing. It's definitely not sawtooth- sounding, and it has alot of bass while retaining the crispness of the guitar. I would definetly buy this pedal again if i broke it or lost it. It comes in handy all the time.

Ok Pedal

It took awhile to find a setting i liked, but once I did, it sounded great. I only suggest getting this pedal if you can't afford higher end pedals.

Black Coffee Tastes Good...

By MrSprocket

from Missoula, MT

Comments about Danelectro DJ-21 Black Coffee Metal Distortion Pedal:

This is overall, a very good pedal. It gives that heavy metal feel that most distortion pedals don't. The first time I picked up a guitar, I expected it to sound like in Heavy Metal songs. To my surprise, it didn't have that raw, loud, deep sound. Plug any guitar into this pedal, and thats what it will sound like. The quality is pretty good, although the knobs fall out easily and are hard to find if lost. The device still operates without knobs, and it is possible to take out a remaining knob and use it in place of any of the missing knobs before putting it back. This is a great value and an overall great product. I recomend it to any guitarist, inexperienced or advanced, because even if you're not an expert on, this pedal will make anything you play sound good.

Coffee with BITE!

By The Old Man Down the Street

from Metairie, LA

Comments about Danelectro DJ-21 Black Coffee Metal Distortion Pedal:

The sharp piecing tones this little box delivers will sterilize lower life forms within hearing range. Allows you to play with your left hand while you use your right hand to scratch your ... nose. Your hammers will definitely be caffeinated.

coffee for your metal!

By James

from North Dakota

Comments about Danelectro DJ-21 Black Coffee Metal Distortion Pedal:

great pedal for the price. it's a tad heavier for hard rock songs but perfect for heavy/death metal songs. this pedal gives you the sound you imagined a guitar would sound like when you first picked one up.

Pretty Good Pedal

By GuitarMan440

from Northern Ohio

Comments about Danelectro DJ-21 Black Coffee Metal Distortion Pedal:

I think this is a pretty good distortion pedal. It sounds alot better than the one that most amps have built in. The only downside I found was that its not as deep as I wanted it to be but its still clean and crisp and good for anyone. Also the price is pretty good too for the quality of this pedal.

O YEA

By Dan

from Grapevine, TX

Comments about Danelectro DJ-21 Black Coffee Metal Distortion Pedal:

This just arrived at my door 15 minutes ago. I plugged it in and without even dialing the knobs was blown away by it. It had such a raw powerful sound that it made the high gain channel on my amp sound like little girl stuff. The whole reason I bought this one over the other ones was because one review said this sounded like what you expected an electric guitar to sound like, and boy that person was right. The only drawback is that the button is really small, a little bigger than a quarter, so you have to aim carefully when you turn it on. Other than that, it easily equals the BOSS pedals

This truly is a screamer!

By Leland

from Oklahoma

Comments about Danelectro DJ-21 Black Coffee Metal Distortion Pedal:

This is the hottest distortion box that I have ever used. I use it with a Peavey T-60 with two humbuckers. I tried it with an OLP Bass and blew up a crate bass amp speaker. I definately do not reccommend it for bass, but for a guitar by all means get one.

Black Coffee Distortion

By Pierce B.

from Fredonia, NY

Comments about Danelectro DJ-21 Black Coffee Metal Distortion Pedal:

When I first received this pedal in the mail, it didn't work at all. After I sodered the input wires it worked just fine. As for the tone, this pedal has a nice, clean, crisp Randy Rhoads type sound. The tone is not as beefy as some other more high quality pedals available, but if you are looking for clean, crispy tone then this pedal is just fine. It is much better then amp built in distortion. I would rate this pedal a 4.

Very flexable pedal for heavy rock, punk or metal.

By Skidney

from St Louis

Comments about Danelectro DJ-21 Black Coffee Metal Distortion Pedal:

When I look at distortion pedals flexablity is my number 1 concern. This is an amazingly flexable pedal that can go from 1 to 11. If you want a bit of coloring all the way to crust core it can do it all while allowing the sound of the guitar to come through not just a chunk of distortion.

Nice little pedal

By CS

from Milton, FL

Comments about Danelectro DJ-21 Black Coffee Metal Distortion Pedal:

MUCH better than the Fab series. Very versatile little pedal. Would definitely get another one. I thought that the "metal" in the name might make this a bit more than I was looking for, but it is very versatile and gave me what I was looking for.

Noisy

By Selene

from Washington

Comments about Danelectro DJ-21 Black Coffee Metal Distortion Pedal:

This was the first pedal I got when I bought my initial rig. It has a lot of hiss and can be very harsh. I couldn't handle it. If you are broke and need a pedal, this one is okay. If you're wanting something you're going to use long term, save your pennies and get a MT-2, mod it or get it modded (DIY or a Keeley Mod), and be happy.

Decent little thing

By Brady

from Madison, Wisconsin

Comments about Danelectro DJ-21 Black Coffee Metal Distortion Pedal:

If you're looking for a small, cheap little distortion pedal: this is it. It can give you a decent crunch with the right settings (or some interesting ones if you play with it), but it's nothing truly special. It also doesn't seem to do much to high-pitch noises. I'd personally recommend a pedal with more strength if you have the money to spend, but this thing is decent.

Buy it if you have a humbucker

By Glen Cunnington

from Milton-Freewater, Oregon

Comments about Danelectro DJ-21 Black Coffee Metal Distortion Pedal:

I got this pedal and the tone is great ut the only problem is that it was really fuzzy. Thats because I had a single coil. Then i tried it with a humbucker pickup and it sounded great so id recommnd it to a friend.
