Good artistic potential but needs better adjustable bridge

Comments about Danelectro Baby Sitar:

Overall good quality and playable, except the buzz bridge is not currently adjustable for intonation. The buzz bridge does work and gives a convincing electric sitar sound but the intonation is badly out because the bridge is just haphazardly screwed into the body. However, I plan to solve that problem by modifying the buzz bridge setup to be adjustable for intonation so all fret positions sound true. If you can somehow make this customization also, then I recommend the instrument because it does make the appropriate electric sitar sound.

    Comments about Danelectro Baby Sitar:

This is the best electric sitar currently on the market in the US. I've owned both of the currently available electric sitars and this one is the one to own.

Please note that all vintage 60s-style electric sitars do NOT intonate perfectly, they NEVER did. All those old classic recordings from the 60s (Monterey - The Animals), 70s (Do it Again - Steely Dan), and 80s (Love Song - The Cure) that were done with the Danelectro 'Coral' Sitar and not a real sitar were recorded with this same limitation. This is not a fault of this particular model but common to all instruments that have the "Buzz Bridge" on them.

Contrary to what the other reviewer says, however, you can adjust the intonation by adjusting the three screws on the bridge. It will never be perfect, but it can be improved and adjusted depending on what kind of strings you use and what kind of action you like.

If you like that classic cheezy electric sitar sound found on so many soul and rock records from the 60s and 70s then this is the instrument for you. Quality build, good sound, nice look, it has it all.
