  • Great little amp.

As reviewed by Vince on 4/30/2010

I had admired Danelectro products but had never needed to by and pedels or other guitars that they offer. This amp fit a need I had and so I was happy to give Danelectro a try. I loved the retro look and am very pleased with the sound and function. The craftsmanship is very nice. Volume, gain and tone knobs located on the top. A jack for earphones and a jack for AC adaptor on the right side of the case. Guitar input jack is on top to the left of the control knobs. My only complaint is that the AC powerpack is not included with the amp. It would be nice to have even at a higher price.

  • Buy the Honeytone instead!

As reviewed by CT on 7/22/2010

For a cheap travel/practice amp, the Honeytone is hard to beat, and I'd suggest that rather than this Hodad. Mine died after three years, so I thought I'd try the Hodad. Looks very cool, thought the twin speakers might be a plus. While it sounds ok at very low volumes, there is no clean at higher volumes, it distorts very easily. Due to the small speaker size, the distortion is pretty thin sounding, no real chunk to it. It is a quiet little amp, might be ok for late-night-don't-wanna-wake-anyone-up situations, but other than that I can't see much use for it. Overall, it sounds ok, it's very quiet, but the Honeytone outperforms on every level, and is $10 less. I believe the Honeytone has a bigger speaker, probably why it's so much better.
