I've the Chicken Salad Vibrato for quite some time. I have several guitars, but this pedal is at its best when used with a single coil pickup that has plenty of bite to it. This produces a nice vintage sound when you you have your amp set clean, but it just isn't very responsive when used in conjunction with other pedals or with distortion. For a few dollars more, I'd recommend a Danelectro Cool Cat Chorus, which is far more versatile. This isn't a bad pedal, but Danelectro offers a better alternative.
The Danelectro Chicken Salad Vibrato pedal is great for getting nice retro sounds. I especially like it for lead guitar. I find it works best with clean tone, but also sounds good with distortion. You can play around with different intensities and speeds to create a wide range of retro sounds. If you are looking for a new sound at a great price, you should consider picking up this pedal.
Sure, there is a reason this pedal is cheap. Cheap jacks, cheap pots, cheap housing etc. But let me tell you, the sound coming out of this pedal can rival any of the expensive uni-vibe clones out there with or without mods! Instant Hendrix, Trower, Gilmour! Buy it now as a killer addition to your board!
