Very natural, tape-like delay

What I like best about my Dan-Echo is that it has a very natural sounding delay. Most of the other digital delays I tried sounded really, well, "digital:" kind of harsh and brittle, and not very pleasing or musical. Then Dan-o is much smoother, and it's easier to dial in a nice classic tone. Downside is that it's not nearly as durable as a Boss or DOD pedal. Its main body is metal, but the knobs are on a plastic insert, and the jacks are plastic and are not mounted to the case. If you accidentally step on the knobs or the in/out cables, it's toast. Overall I like the Dan-Echo, but I wish they had made it a bit more rugged.

Its nice if you don't need tap

Danelectro DE-1 Dan-Echo Guitar Pedal. Sounds good, has some tone colorization but not bad, great sound but needs tap tempo. I like the pedal but eventually decided it needed to be replaced.

Danecho delay

I love this pedal. With the time switch on short, you can get some great slap-back rocka-a-billy sounds, and with it switched to long, it acts more like a standard delay. The best function, though, is the hi-cut which rolls off progressively more highs on each echo, making it sound like tape delay. My only wish is that it had a tap tempo, but I can pretty much tweak it to get the delay times I need. I can go from Carl Perkins to Dave Gilmour with one pedal.

Classic

If you're looking for that classic tape delay effect... this is the pedal for you. For the price, this is the best delay pedal on the market

Gets the job done.

This is a nice sounding pedal if you want a very basic, no frills delay. I prefer a DL4 or even an Echo park by Line 6 because I liketo use a lot of different delay sounds. But for the price you cannot go wrong with the dan-echo.

Owned It For Over 10 Years!

I bought this pedal over ten years ago and haven't purchased another one yet! In fact, it hasn't left my board in hundreds of live shows and studio dates. We'll start from the ground up... The delay times are ultra-versatile! From quick, slap-back to long and lush! However, the real star of the show is the "hi-cut" knob! It allows you to roll off highs on each successive repeat for just the right amount of "analog" feel and does an amazing job! The DE-1 is a tonal monster and really is "studio quiet!" Built like a tank, looks cool, and sounds that will make you a believer too! Sounds great on acoustic as well! Ten years is a long time for a test....the DE-1 passes with flying colors!

What your pedal board wants...

This pedal is great! I got it as a gift from my uncle and I don't think I've played a show since I got it where I haven't used it. It's great for 'edge' like leads or rich open chords. It's safe to say that no pedal board is complete with this pedal. The only draw back is the lack of a 'tap delay'. But it's easy enough to use that you can adjust on the fly.

Mine's still kicking after 8 years!

I've had one of these pedals for about 8 years now and it keeps on going. I've tried other delay/echo pedals and always revert back to this one. It's built like a tank and it's easy to use. Yeah, it doesn't have tap tempo... Although, it would be cool to have. For the price, you can't beat it and it looks like they'll stand the test of time!
