Like so many others, I purchased this pedal as an inexpensive alternative to high-priced vibrato effects. This pedal does exactly what it is intended for, whether it be a subtle swirl or an insane, almost unusable swoosh effect. If you use A/C power, which you should, the A/C connector has to fight for a spot to rest, but it is manageable. Mix, speed, and intensity knobs give you great control over the effect, and the pedal is very tough. As has been pointed out, the downsides to this pedal are: a very large, immediate volume boost when the effect is engaged (I can turn the volume on my Strat from 10 down to about 2 to compensate); and, there is a noticeable delay from the time the switch is engaged to the time that the effect is actually heard. With this in mind, I still own the pedal and still use it regularly, although if something happened to this one I can't say that I would replace it with another unless Dan'o comes out with a 2nd Gen Vibe that wipes out these problems.
After hearing the demo of the Cool Cat Vibe online I couldn't wait to buy one. Well built (metal casing instead of plastic), easy to operate and the noise level is very acceptable. Since it does use photo cells a power supply would be a good idea. Although there isn't an advertised power suppy for this unit, the Danelectro power supply normally used for their pedals isn't recommended (read on retail website), probably due to the power requirements of the photo cells. It captures the Trower, Hendrix type of vibe very well and for a very low price. The reason I gave it four stars instead of five is when the pedal is engaged there is a very noticeable jump in volume. There isn't a output level (volume) control on this unit. I tested the Vibe by itself using a MIA Stratocaster with Hot Noiseless pickups and a Ampeg Jet reissue amp. I'll keep this pedal and lookout for any mods in the future that will correct the volume issue.
