The Cool Cat CM-2 Metal II from Danelectro gives you a metal stomp box for the price of a plastic one. If you're finicky about tone, the Cool Cat will have you purring.
For being one of the cheapest pedals you can buy, this thing is awesome. I’m getting a great early Metallica, Pantera, Shadows Fall type tone from it. It’s defiantly more of a trebly, bright, aggressive tone rather than a smooth, creamy, bassy distortion. At lower gain settings there is outstanding clarity, and transparency meaning you can play a whole chord without it being a muddy mess. Great for AC/DC type stuff. At higher gain levels it’s not very noisy and though trebly, it’s never shrill, thin, or fizzy. The switch is a mid range scooper and is relatively subtle, I get the best tone with no scoop at all. I would have paid twice as much and still been happy with this pedal. While it’s not “sell the triple rec because this is better” I can’t really complain.
