The Cool Cat CF-1 Fuzz from Danelectro gives you a metal stomp box for the price of a plastic one. If you're finicky about tone, the Cool Cat will have you purring.
I bought this pedal when I was first starting out as a cheap pedal and man was I pleased with this purchase. This isn't the best fuzz pedal out there but at the same time it's very capable of some very dirty tones (think Killing In the Name by RATM) but also some pretty good regular rock tones (i.e. Knights of Cydonia by Muse). If you choose to use this as the first pedal in your rig you'll also find that it allows you to have a lot of control via the guitar's knobs, which is nice. On the other hand, I like to put it in front of my multiFX pedal and that gets it some BEAUTIFUL yet ugly and fat fuzz tones. It doesn't clean up too well and below 9:00 on the fuzz it's pretty subtle but I can get use it to get a pretty good tone for The Wind Cries Mary by Jimi Hendrix. So this is a fantastic pedal if you wish to use it to get some fairly high-fuzz tones but for some really subtle fuzz, this probably isn't for you. (Oh, and for you Muse fans, it works great for Muse, especially when mixed with some distortion. Great for KoC , Jimmy Jam, SMBH, and things that require a lot grit (or even just a little, for that matter))

I bought this pedal just for the hell of it and its a pretty good pedal. I play with a squire tele and i also use a fender super champ amp on the clean channel for the pedal and i can get almost the same exact sound for Rolling Stones songs such as Can't You Hear Me Knockin and Brown Sugar. You might be able to find a Hendrix sound in there too but not the exact sound. Anyway its a good pedal to just fool around on if you are a hobbyist.

I wasn't expecting much from this pedal when I first used it, but when you turn it up you get the classic Buzzsaw, hive full of bees sound. Pull the tone back and the fuzz up and you get very chunky licks. Yet when your using the pedal discretely the tones come up muddy and skip out a bit. So: Buy this pedal if you want heavy buzzing tones Don't buy this pedal if your going to use this pedal in lower levels.

I got this pedal from a friend for way cheap. God knows why he sold it. Plugged in my Strat, and man! It sounded so fuzzy and gross i was hooked! From that moment it was on my board. From my Radiohead/Muse tastes, i love this thing.

Very impressive sounding, well built pedal for a great price. Meant to be used loudly; sounds buzzy and transitory at low levels, but stacking with an overdrive can help that. Better with single coil pups IMO.
