The Ampeg ADA4 Dan Armstrong Plexi Bass Guitar features a maple neck with 24 frets inlaid into an Indian rosewood fingerboard, which, when combined with the unique diamond-cut acrylic double cutaway body, allows a full 2-octave access clear of the body. Custom interchangeable pickups by Kent Armstrong use a unique stacked design where the tone control mixes the treble and bass coils for a depth of tone that belies the instrument's 30" scale. The pickups included are a Stacked Coil Bright Bass and Stacked Coil Deep Bass. The Plexi Bass also features nickel Grover die-cast tuners, vintage rotary pots, and a formica woodgrain-look pickguard.

Comments about ADA4 Dan Armstrong Plexi Bass:
I owned one of the original basses. Made between 1969 and 1970, ampeg made 2500 6 string guitars, and 2500 4 string basses. There were also a few 4 & 6 string clear black models made. The bass is very heavy, and there is easy access to all the frets all the way up to the 24th fret. The flormica pick guard is very fragile, and it is prone to break around the input jack. So use an angle jack , then run it between the strap and the body of the guitar, with about 4 inches of slack, in case someone including your self accidently trips over your guitar cord, it will help prevent the flormica pick guard from breaking!
