I was super excited to get this guitar and it is as beautiful in person as it is in the picture. However, I was very surprised at the small body on the guitar. I am a 5'8" female and it is way too small for me. I ended up returning the guitar for a larger one. Otherwise, this is a great guitar for a smaller framed person or kid. The sound is surprisingly good for such a small body.

Comments about Daisy Rock Pixie Acoustic-Electric Guitar:

I think the other glowing reviews created unreasonable expectations. I reluctantly got this for my 9yo daughter (her selection) to upgrade her from her Rogue starter guitar. (FYI: Rogue is great for a beginner if you're afraid they might not stay with it.) I think there are several better acoustic choices in the two hundred +/- price range, but the electronics are pretty decent and helps balance out the value of this guitar.

The flame maple veneer top is pretty, but I'm not sure what the inside top wood-laminate is made of. Generally, the guitar feels VERY sturdy and well built, but not engineered to maximize tone.

Out of the box, the set up was playable, but the neck was dead straight, causing increasing fret buzz as you move up the neck. Once the neck relief (truss rod adjustment) was corrected, the action was too high. After shaving off about 5/32" (little more than 1/8"), playability up the neck improved significantly, without affecting tone or intonation (which was good out of the box). The nut slots are a little sloppy, but acceptable without a pro set up.

I think the composite back adds some needed low tone (not really much bass, but better than I would expect from the smaller shape and thin body).

Although I love the D'Addario EXP custom light strings, they're just too bright for this guitar. I tried some Martin extra-lights (10-46), but they had NO lows, and needed another truss rod adjustment to stop buzzing. Ernie Ball Earthwood lights (11-52) were an improvement, but I settled on DR "rare" P-B lights (11-50) because they add some nice mids, a little to the lows, and some sustain without sacrificing playability. (I find the DR rares compliment laminated tops, especially newer poly-finished guitars, but they can make a solid top or high quality lam top sound like a train wreck).

All in all, a good looking guitar for a smaller player with decent electronics. My daughter loves it and I don't regret the purchase because she'll pick it up and play it just for fun. However, I think the other reviews are over selling its virtues, and there are better guitars available (Yamaha, Alvarez, Epiphone, some Fender) for about the same cost.

Comments about Daisy Rock Pixie Acoustic-Electric Guitar:

I have been looking for an easy playing, low action, 14 inch lower bout, electric acoustic with onboard tuner, and here it is. I love this blueberry burst, and I play it nearly everyday. I have been playing for 50 years, and my hands and fingers aren't as young as they used to be, so this little Daisy Rock has been a blessing. Great job MF for the quick delivery and great packing. Thanks !!!

super guitar

By JD

from Bullhead City, AZ

Comments about Daisy Rock Pixie Acoustic-Electric Guitar:

I bought the blueberry burst one. I had it for four months now and I'm completely satisfied with it. The widest portion of guitar ie. lower bout, is less than 14" wide and it's less than 3" thick I think. So it's a smaller, comfortable guitar to play and I put away my dreadnought yamaha fg700s and play the pixie instead.

The frets are leveled and they might be stainless steel because they are barely worn. I go thru nickel frets like nothing. Strap buttons are awesome. I play this guitar unplugged and it sounds super great with capo on the second fret. It also helps aleviate the small string spacing at the nut by moving the nut down the neck. At 12th fret the neck is 55mm wide and at nut it's 40mm. It has a agressive fretboard taper. Probably good for finger picking by giving you more string space at the bridge. Tuners are awesome. Basically, the whole guitar is great. The only thing I wish it had was less rounded edges as it slides off my thigh easily, ie. plastic being slippery. The guitar played unplugged does have great volume. It has nice low action and no fret buzz. I have it next to me at my desk so I can pick it up and play whenever. Very happy and would buy it again. Great value.

Musician's Friend Saved Our Christmas

By Richard Bickel

from South Carolina

Comments about Daisy Rock Pixie Acoustic-Electric Guitar:

We had initially ordered from another company (won't mention their name but they claim to have the "best buy"(s). Although they processed the order, they didn't bother to mention that the item was back ordered. We only stumbled on that tidbit of information on our own- they never bothered to call us and tell us that our order might not arrive until February or March! A Christmas present... in March!?!?
Thankfully we called Musician's Friend. The sales associate spent about 30 minutes on the phone with me to make sure that we would get the item we wanted before Christmas. The price was fantastic; the guitar arrived EARLY and in perfect condition. The look on my daughter's face was absolutely priceless!
By the way- this is the second guitar that we bought from Musician's Friend. Our experience with that previous purchase was EXCELLENT as well- I won't make the mistake of using a different company in the future.
Cannot thank you enough for saving my daughter's Christmas.
I WILL DEFINITELY SHOP WITH MUSICIAN'S FRIEND IN THE FUTURE.
I WOULD DEFINITELY RECOMMEND THEM TO A FRIEND!
Perfectly sized for my 8 year old daughter- and it is comfortable for my wife to play, too. Fantastic sound.

I was surprised

By Michael Ugrin

from Seattle, WA

Comments about Daisy Rock Pixie Acoustic-Electric Guitar:

Ignore the girlishness, do yourself a favour and go buy one. Use it to record so you don't embarass yourself playing it live, or just paint it! It sounds awesome, and is a joy to play.
This little guitar is an anomoly. I had a gift card in hand, and I was looking for a cheap guitar to buy just for fun. I was walking through the acoustic section, and the pink sparkles of this Daisy Rock caught my eye. I kind of laughed as I picked it up to play it and noticed the small price. But once I played it a little while, I was blown away. For the price and the cosmetics of this guitar, it has a tone that will shock you. It keeps a perfect tune, sounds really clear and consistant and plays like a much much more expensive guitar would.
The guitar feels good to play. If you ignore the girly and childish looks of it, you'll realize it really is a well-built instrument.
Value couldn't be better. Built-in pickup and EQ together make a really nice sound, you get more than you pay for.

bad Quality

By Kristen

from Ohio

Comments about Daisy Rock Pixie Acoustic-Electric Guitar:

I bought this guitar because I thought it looked sweet. When it came in the mail, the guitar was all beat up. The strings had purple paint on them, there were scratches, and it looked like someone had taken a sponge to it while the paint was wet, and it left it with missing paint. Although the quatily of the guitar was not the best, the sound was amazing. I ended up returing the guitar because of the quality issues.

Excellent For Any Beginner

By Tube Amps RULE!

from Mt. Vernon, IL.

Comments about Daisy Rock Pixie Acoustic-Electric Guitar:

First off I'd like to say quality control is all there except for the cosmedics. At this price though for a first guitar or just a tad smaller one it's a great deal. My wife, band mates and I all agree this little titian sounds better than my $450 Alverez with no electronics. Not that $450 is alot of money when it comes to acoustic guitars but its gives you a good idea of just how good its tone is. more laterPlayability: It plays great even with my large hands. Stays in tune!!! 18/1 Grovers & D'Addario EXP strings to match you can't go wrong. No fret buzz at all with the slightly smaller gauge strings. Intonation was accurate within 2cent wow. The daisy inlays seem larger in person than in the picture. Thats kinda hard to adapt to for a 25yr player like me but I feel its a good thing for a beginner though. The shallow body is great!! I even find that a nice thing to have as well. The rounded back helps alot with holding it in position. AH listen man. This thing plays great I'm simply amazed!Tone: Wow is all I can say. For this price you can't go wrong with that. I'm sure the EXP strings help with that cause they are top notch strings that I use myself. Projection of the tone is low however due to the shallow body and composite back, but wait! It does have electronics to cure that if you so desire to make it loud. For the beginner thats great though cause it makes it harder to disturb others while learning to play.Durability: Well lets just put it up against an all wood guitar in a smash up contest and see who obviously wins that. This is my 10yr old daughters first REAL guitar. She has two siblings as well so I already know what this thing is up against which makes the composite back a real big plus. When people ask what to get in a first guitar I always tell them get one that stays in tune. I know if you don't play guitar this seems like alot of money to spend but believe me it's worth every penny even if not for a first guitar. When learning to play its crucial to have something that sounds good when first getting it played right. It keeps their interest!!! Very important there. Stays in tune plus no fret buzz and intonation is all there. The smaller size makes it much easier for smaller hands period. Sounds great! Truely remarkable I wish they made them for boys as well. I'D GET ONE!If this is for someone starting out all thats left needed is determination. Help, patience, and funding from you along the way WILL be needed. If they want it they will get it with this guitar! Hey man if they give up you can always get $100 back out of it and help another beginner out right. Go for it its awsome!

Daisy Rock, Rocks

By Toni McGuire

from Mableton, GA

Comments about Daisy Rock Pixie Acoustic-Electric Guitar:

I've played several guitars and love the small body and lightweight feel of this one. The small neck makes playing much more comfortable for me. At 5'1" the more trad. guitar was just to much instrument for me, but I didn't want to sacrifice sound, and I'm not;my fans would agree on that point. With the on board tuner, I can change between capo and open strings without playing out of tune.
