Comments about Daisy Rock Heartbreaker Short-Scale Electric Guitar Starter Pack:

I'm a tiny lady and a friend recommended Daisy Rock guitars to me. This guitar is fun to play and sounds pretty great for the price.. and of course it looks amazing. As Lee said here already, the accessories that come with it aren't very high quality. I've already gotten rid of most of them. But the instrument itself is really solid.

Guitar is great, most of the accessories are cheap junk.

Comments about Daisy Rock Heartbreaker Short-Scale Electric Guitar Starter Pack:

Got this for my 7 yr old on sale at the Tukwila store. At the price I paid in-store on the 4th of July sale it's five star value. At the usual street price listed above, it is not, because the accessories are super cheap. I have to give the guitar itself a major thumbs up. It looks fabulous, plays really well (after a new set of strings and a quarter turn of the truss rod, see below), and sounds way, way better than you would expect out of a kid's guitar in this price range. The die cast tuners work well, guessing they have a ratio somewhere around 18:1, and it holds its tuning pretty decently considering it has a plastic nut and a crossbar style string tree grabbing at the strings. The humbucker just plain sizzles, so much so that I ended up I woodshedding a good half hour plus running into an iPad Air with GarageBand's models using an iRig 2. I had read reviews complaining about the volume pot on the Debutante series, but this one's works just fine. Not so sure about the ready-to-play/already-set-up claim. The action on this one was really high, nearly two credit card widths with the stock strings on and tuned to standard pitch. The stock strings were heavy gauge (guessing 11-52) and came taped up slackened in packing paper; I think the truss rod was also relaxed a bit. I put some 9-42 XLs on it, and the action became instantly passable at just less than a credit card width relief. The next day, I tightened the truss rod a quarter turn and all was truly well. The frets are tall but well dressed, no rough edges. After changing the gauge, I needed to set the intonation too, but that also went well. As I noted earlier, with the exception of the method book, the accessories in the starter pack are very cheap. The gig bag is super thin nylon, no padding, and will only protect it from dust, and the seams and straps are barely adequate to carry the guitar in without straining. It does have a zippered accessory pouch on the front. The cable sounds good but is pretty thin, little worried about the wire wearing through the wrap. This is a very light guitar, just a shade over 5 pounds, but the included strap strains to hold it. The 3 watt practice amp isn't bad actually. Need to tip it back or the cord will pull it onto its face. The tuner is just weird, like a Happy Meal toy complete with hearing aid battery. The picks included are thin plastic ones, like toy plastic, not even acetate. (My daughter has taken a shine to a red nylon Jazz III I had lying around so she'll be alright.) The method book is really well done like all Alfred methods, and comes with a DVD and CD. Looking forward to watching it and playing along with my daughter!
