Overview

The DW 9002PC Double Pedal is just what you need for reaction and speed. To create incredibly smooth, gravity-defying action, the 9000's Floating Rotor is not permanently affixed on a conventional drive shaft but is mounted on a free-floating drive shaft using friction-reducing ball-bearings.The patented Rotor can be infinitely adjusted using the Infinite Torque Adjustment for a variety of positions from center (Turbo-style) to eccentric (Accelerator-style), achieving the desired balance of power and precision in any playing situation.

Furthermore, by moving the location of the Floating Spring from the end of the hex shaft to the center of the pedal, the vertical alignment of the moving parts is maintained and the indirect transfer and loss of energy is virtually eliminated - further optimizing the pedal's speed and power and precision.

In addition to Delta ball-bearings at the rocker, hex shaft, and hinge, the 9000 also employs friction-reducing ball-bearings in the rotor and spring connector while incorporating several of the 5000 Series' most popular upgrades such as a stackable heel plate, dual/side adjusting hoop clamp, 101 2-way beater, built-in spurs, and lightweight aluminum pedal plates and linkages.

This thing is a bass. I spent almost a year on an Iron Cobra Rolling Glide thinking that it was pretty good. I was wrong. I bought the DW pedal and I was blown away. I don't even know how to start with the features because theres way too many to fit in this box. Although a bit pricy, if you want the speed a pedal should provide, get this pedal.

I've had this pedal for about 3 years. Granted it a good smooth pedal and is very adjustable. I would of written just as good of a review as others have on this product when I first bought it, but you can get just as good of a pedal in a Iron Cobra or Pearl eliminator for FAR less. My main issue and motivation for this review 3 years after purchase is that I have had to buy the linkage to the slave pedal 4 times...which is 80$ each time. The u-Joints wear out and cause the pedal to have play and sit about a half inch lower then the right....something I wouldn't expect form a 500$ pedal. Also so you know this isn't covered in the warranty... I owned the Taye double pedal for 4 years before this (198$) and never had an issue with the linkage or any other parts. I would suggest a cheaper pedal from a competitor like Tama or Pearl if your looking for a higher quality pedal that's on the next level

LET IT FLY!

By Michael

from Ohio

The DW9002 has to be the best pedal DW has made. I've played with DW double pedals for over 15 years and this one by far, is the best one I've had. It's very smoooth, very quick and both pedals are equal with regards to height, feel and reaction. None of this left pedal higher than the right, stiffer and less responsive, but all the adjustments available don't get them even. The pedal doesn't really need any adjustments out of the box, but I like a little tighter spring and it was sweet when I noticed that the spring tension nut sits into slots on the pivoting spring tension mount. A nice, easy way to count how many indexes to move the other spring. I would recommend that you purchase the pedal board weights if you're like me and want a lot of power to your bass drum......or......if you have pedal board weiths from another DW pedal, try them out. It gives a little more feel to the pedals. The pedals do feel quite "light". This pedal is worth every penny!

9002

By Zoli

from Texas

Great pedal. Have used the 5002 8002 but this is probably the best pedal from DW. I have recorded at Sonic Ranch Studios and everytime they provide us with the 9000 or the 9002 and its the smoothest most interchangeable pedal when it comes to comfort. Now be aware that it takes some getting used to and you gotta mess with it to get to the settings you want but its worth the price. If your used to a heavier pedal that you really gotta step on start with the 5002 and then change up to this pedal.

Top Of The Line, But Expect More!

By Tommy

from Allen, TX

I purchased these wonderful pedals after trying out nearly every other option in the store. I'm not a huge fan of the newer direct drive style, although it is VERY sturdy. If you are interested a chain drive pedal at all, I would ONLY recommend the DW 9000 series. There are many adjustable options in which fine-tune your playing, and they are smooth as butter. Now, when looking into DW's higher end (5000, 8000, 9000) double pedals, one, or both of two things can go VERY wrong. Either the terribly made and heavy shaft will wear out, after one scratch, and affect your whole playing experience. Other thing is the springs aren't very durable after about a year. DW is VERY slow at sending in parts, although they are free. After eight months, my shaft began wearing down after gigging a ton, and the left pedal was virtually useless. I decided to switch my "complex" shaft with a more simpler version off my old 7000 double, and it was PERFECT. Both beaters sway back & forth the same. I'd recommend doing this, and you'll have the best set of pedals out there. I really would have expected better from DW, but perhaps I've gotten a set of ghost pedals, as the Guitar Center associate put it. Bottom line, these pedals are smooth, versatile, very heavy duty, and most of the main parts will last a LONG TIME. But if you get a set that has even a minor issue, Iۡd recommend sending them back ASAP. I hope to see DW improving their shaft style and chain durability in the next few years. If you have an old pair of 7000 series, or even 4000 series double pedals, which most upgrade to 9000ۡs from, I would highly recommend switching to that shaft, and you will experience the best pedals out there. These, once you find the sweet spot in your playing, will absolutely coast through fast double bass patterns. In live settings where youۡll be using tons of energy, these require little to no effort, so youۡll be able to nail those difficult parts in your set. Best feeling, performing, and good looking pedals out there.

Best Pedal Ever!

By Brandon G

from Albany, New York

This is easily the best pedal on the market. I just purchased it last night and the second I tried it out on the factory default settings I loved it. After making it adjusted to my liking-ness It was perfect. Super smooth, super fast, very sturdy, and most importantly it gives a swing feel unlike the direct drive pedals which are built for only speed. This delivers every aspect of bass drumming.

Smooth and Controlled

By Derek

from Saint John, NB

I must say that this is a wonderful pedal. Its extremely tuneable and incredibly predictable. I wanted something that could be lightning fast when I needed it (think Gavin Harrison) but with enough feel to swing (think John Bonham) and this pedal delivers. I am interested in the Axis pedals but the swing aspect is not there. I also appreciate the stability of the product. When playing aggresively, there are not signs of lateral movement. It's a "machine". Try it out...you might like it!

Great Pedals

By Axis90000

from bucharest, ca

These are great pedals, but they lack something that a metal drummer like myself needs: punch. They just cannot seem to truley break through. They also aren't the fastest pedals around, due to the chain drive. I love these pedals, but I prefer my Axis longboards, a direct drive, better. I would recommend to get the Axis. The price difference isn't huge, but the preformance is.
