The 9000 Series Remote hi-hat features double-braced legs and newly designed low-profile casting for the same incredible feel that has made DW remote hi-hats the choice of professionals. The innovation lies in DW's uniquely designed cable. It will not crimp when packed and features a patented removable wire for periodic servicing. A lot of the hardware on my kit is DW. They make excellent products. Hate to say it, but this was one a bit of a disappointment. I ended up buying and returning this item two times. The first time I returned it was, because the contents of the box to not match with what the outside of the box says should be inside. The first one I bought had obviously been opened before I purchased, so I just assumed that someone had remove the (1) Low-Profile Cable Housing, (2) SOS Drop Clutch and (3) Carrying Bag. I returned in and ordered a new one. The next one was clearly in an unopened box with factory glue, but those same three items were missing again. After speaking with DW, I learned that DW made some special accommodations for GC by omitting those three items, so GC can sell it at a lower price. The second time I returned it was, because there are several quirky things about the functionality of this product. The main problem I have with this stand is the angle of the pedal. The angle is significantly higher than any other HH pedal I've ever used and was just awkward as hell and worst of all, the angle cannot be adjusted. I called DW and they confirmed that the angle could not be adjusted. This was the main reason I returned it for the second time, but some other things I did not like about it was that no matter how hard I pressed down on the pedal, I could never get a tight "chick" from my HH cymbals. It was the same sound that you get if you were to unscrew your clutch and just let your top hat rest on your bottom hat. Very loose and washy sounding. Also, the felts were pretty jacked up too. I tried to sandwich the bottom hat in between the two felts that were provided, but the felts are so thick that my top hat and bottom hat were unable to touch. There was about a half inch space in between the top and bottom hat. I had to go to my local GC and buy a set of thin HH felts before I ever was able to try it out. On a positive note, I ended up buying the Pearl RH-2000 Eliminator Remote Hi-Hat Stand and love everything about this stand. I am going to leave a review on it for anyone who might be interested.
DW got it right whent they designed the new 9000 series remote hi-hat stand. Place it anywhere on the kit. Whether you are a lefty or a righty, it doesn't matter. The smooth action of the cam makes it a pleasure to open and close.
I just bought this product yesterday and i am very impressed. It is much smoother than my old high hat stand, and i now have my high hats mounted in the middle of my four toms ^.^ The Pedal is very adjustable and versatile, The legs are very easy to work with and it is a solid product.
