Lightest, strongest HH hat ever

Comments about DW 6500 Flush-Base Hi-Hat Cymbal Stand:

Say goodbye to that bulky HH stand you've been dragging from gig to gig, this thing is going to be the last HH stand you ever buy! It's so light, but still has that DW quality we have come to expect. It sets up super fast and the pedal is solid. Here is my review from the boom stands in the same series because many of the same applies: These are hands down the best stands I have ever purchased. DW quality is best, and these stands prove it. They are the lightest stands I have ever used and by far the best built. All the DW classic feature are there, the interlocking hardware, the felts connected to the wingnuts, and now the flush base. It's beautiful and people will notice these babies. I recently shot a music video with them and people couldn't stop talking about these awesome stands. So lightweight too! If you have a bad back like I do, these are a lifesaver. Literally half the weight of the original HEAVY stands we are accustomed to from DW. I got the HH stand and two booms and my gig bag is WAAAAAAYYYYY lighter. Well played DW, I'm a fan. Thank you.

No backbreaking hardware here.

Comments about DW 6500 Flush-Base Hi-Hat Cymbal Stand:

All I can say is that the DW 6500 Flush-Base Hi Hat Stand does the trick. I am a gigging drummer in New York City. And this stand has made it very easy to travel from gig to gig on public transportation. The Stand is light weight folds up to a small compact item to keep in your gig bag. I carry with me this stand along with three of the other DW flat based cymbal stands and the weight is just about the same as one double braced Cymbal Stand. The Retro look of this stand is also cool cause I play in a Rockabilly band. I recommend this stand to any drummer who is gigging in small clubs and have to get on and off stage very fast !

Nice!

By Christopher John Asperin

Comments about DW 6500 Flush-Base Hi-Hat Cymbal Stand:

Been looking for a lightweight, easy-on-the-back, thin yet heavy-duty hi hat stand. I stopped looking after this one. I highly recommend to anyone who's just tired of lugging heavy hardware but still want to have that same quality and reliability.

All the quality, less the weight.

By Guy Incognito

from Providence, RI

Comments about DW 6500 Flush-Base Hi-Hat Cymbal Stand:

I've been using a DW 6500 for over a year now. I bought for gigging purposes as a lighter-weight alternative to my beloved (but bulky) Tama Iron Cobra Lever Glide hihat. I loved the smooth action on my Iron Cobra but was sick of lugging around a 65-pound hardware bag full of unnecessary double-braced monster stands, so I scrimped and saved and gradually replaced all my hardware with lightweight retro flush-base stands. I was blown away by my DW 6500- the offset direct pull mechanism is fluid and responsive, and the overall feel is reliably solid and sturdy despite the low-mass construction. My only criticism echoes a fellow reviewer's in that the footplate connection is not ideal (the footplate is supported by a bar that attaches to the stand base via a drum key-requiring bolt) but the most recent version of this stand uses a radius rod fixture instead. I would recommend Gibraltar 8600 series flush-base cymbal and snare stands over the DW 6000 versions since they are similarly excellent quality at a fraction of the price, but I can say without reservation that the DW 6500 hihat is worth every penny.

Not too bad!

By Mark Serbian

from San Diego, CA

Comments about DW 6500 Flush-Base Hi-Hat Cymbal Stand:

The hat works great. Doesn't weigh much, goes up and down like it's supposed to, has lots of adjustment possibilities - in short, it behaves like it's older brothers. Only less expensive. The only issue I have is with the footplate connection at the base of the stand. It's a tad hard to negotiate if you're in a hurry. Other than that, I'd recommend this to pretty much anybody who needs a good, professional stand that doesn't weigh much or take up too much room.

Smooth and simple...

By Mike

from Austin,TX

Comments about DW 6500 Flush-Base Hi-Hat Cymbal Stand:

Before getting the 6500 stand I used a DW 9000 series hi-hat and was just "okay" with its performance. The foot plate angle was always a little too steep for my taste and it had some stability issues. But the 6500 has fixed all my hi-hat issues. It's a lightweight and sturdy litte stand, the footplate angle is perfect, and the low profile legs sit low enough on the ground that mic stands and cymbal stands can easily go right over them. Definitely worth the dollars...
