This is the best stand in the world. I can hold multiple things at one time which is incredible. I bought one of these a couple days ago to hold up my super heavy 21" ride cymbal and my 17" floor tom. It held both the ride and floor tom with no problem and barely any wobbling. I also attached 19" paragon china with a boom arm and it still barely wobbled. For the price this is a must buy stand when you need it to hold up a lot of stuff.

Received defective stands, in that I could not pull the black cymbal tilter handle out and swing it out of the way of the bottom of my cymbals after adjusting and tightening it. The setscrew holding the handle in appeared to be screwed in too far to allow the spring-loaded handle to be pulled outward hardly at all. Surprised me from DW, but I guess every manufacturer has bad QA days. So, I just decided to exchange them for the same model stands since they get such good reviews.

I'd rather not get into too many of the gory details of what I went through with MF customer service to get these exchanged. Suffice it to say after working with two different reps, no one contacted me for 3 days after my exchange request. Also, none of the reps I worked with ever answered their phone extensions (I'd get their voicemail 100% of the time, which they never answered or returned my calls).

So, I sent in yet another email and finally a third rep who knew what she was doing got the exchange going for me.

If I had to do this over again, I'd contact DW directly for replacement parts instead of sending back these heavy stands to MF. If you buy DW products from MF, I would highly recommend you do the same if possible.

I'm not sure what's going on with MF customer service, they used to be excellent. But, this purchase and exchange was a complete disaster as far as I'm concerned. The funny part is that I was contacted by two other MF reps for feedback on my purchase (not including the one for this review). One actually asked me, "Is there anything else we can do to supplement the situation?". He's asking me? Isn't that his job as a customer representative? Some sort of in-store credit for all of this trouble would have been nice, but was never offered, nor was anything else.

The stands themselves are awesome, and I love all of their innovative features. Lousy MF customer service is the reason for the 3 star rating.

not quite as heavy duty as 9000 boom stand

Comments about DW 5700 Heavy-Duty Straight/Boom Cymbal Stand:

I bought a 5000 boom stand so that I could load it up. I wanted to put a 12" tom, 13" tom, a 15" crash cymbal, and a couple of splash cymbals. This setup is part of a larger set a total of 6 tom toms, a floor tom, and 2 bass drums. Anyway my mounted toms are mounted to the cymbal stands to keep the mounted toms off of the bass drums. I was using two 900 & one 800 series Pearl stands from the 80's. The 900 series have dents in them from the adapters and the 800 series the pipes are bent from a 14" tom and a 22" ride. I didn't want this problem again so I started to look for another brand that wouldn't do this again. I tried the 5000 series boom and low and behold the pipe was dented just from putting the items that I mentioned before. I just let them sit (I didn't even move it) for a couple of weeks. It also shook like jello, like it was near its capacity, when I pushed a tom with my finger. I took it back and bought a 9000 series boom on memorial day because it was on sale (usually can't find it for less than $154.00 and change) Well, so far no dents and there were some scratches already on it (it was on the show room floor). And it is carrying the load better then the 5000-it doesn't shake like the 5000. Most people don't put that kind of load on a cymbal stand but I am because of the set up. Another solution would to be to buy a drum rack but, right now I don't want to invest the money into it. Or to buy tom stands-to me its doing the same thing. If you need to put multiple items on one stand, I would recommend the 9000 over the 5000 it seems to do what I want it to be doing just a little bit better. Someone was talking about the plastic handle on the tilter on the 9000. It is on both models now so you don't have a choice. I am discussing denting in great detail because I haven't seen any reviews that have discussed stands denting and scratching from adapters. When you pay a lot of money the stands shouldn't look like it was in an accident after a few weeks.

Comments about DW 5700 Heavy-Duty Straight/Boom Cymbal Stand:

This is a nice heavy-duty stand which is both well made and functional. I particularly like that the boom isn't too long. It has the reach required for a cymbal without a foot of boom sticking out the other side for a guitar player to bump into. I also appreciate the separate adjustments for rotating the boom and telescoping it. There are memory locks on the column. I have a cymbal on the top and a rack tom hung off the side on a clamp, so it holds up to quite a load. Well worth the money I paid for it.

Comments about DW 5700 Heavy-Duty Straight/Boom Cymbal Stand:

This is a great cymbal stand, DW only makes quality products, but take a very close look and you will find that this is the exact cymbal stand as the PDP CB900. DW makes PDP and as you will find all they do is change the names on the products. The CB900 is PDP's top of the line stand, where the 5700 is the middle line for DW. With all this being said, it's still a great cymbal stand, but when you buy, buy the stand not the name.

Comments about DW 5700 Heavy-Duty Straight/Boom Cymbal Stand:

These stands are by far the best out there! Extremely heavy duty and very adjustable. The finish on these are the best I have ever seen and will standout anywhere. I have five of the stands and they all work flawlessly and shine. More than enough sturdiness for adding on extra arms for more cymbals, drums, ect. And the price for these are more than fair for what you get!

Comments about DW 5700 Heavy-Duty Straight/Boom Cymbal Stand:

As non high end as the 5000 series hardware sounds, these stands are actually as heavy duty as the 9000 series, the one difference is in the tilter, which honestly is more durable than the 9000 series. I played on the 9000 series hardware and the plastic handles have broken again and again on me all the time. Amd after a while they begin to loose grip anc come loose. DONT BE FOOLED, youre better off spending your money on these stands than the 9000 series.

        DW stand Review

        By Urban54

        from Connersville Indiana

Comments about DW 5700 Heavy-Duty Straight/Boom Cymbal Stand:

I bought two of these and i like them and they are really sturdy and everything but if you have money for the 9000 I think it is worth the extra money to get the 9000. I have replaced the boom cymbal arm part on both of my 5000 series stands with 9000 series booms because they are so much better with the toothles tilter and the black plastic lever thing.
