DW SM105 HardCore Adjustable Kick Drum Beater (102570272)
Availability:

The patented DW Drums HardCore beater uses a hard plastic core embedded in soft foam rubber. You can achieve the desired amount of attack by easily adjusting the level of contact the core has with the drum head. When playing soft, the beater acts much like a felt beater, but when struck hard, it has all the attack of a hard plastic or wood drum beater ball.

  • Best beater on the market

As reviewed by Steve Briglevich on 11/20/2009

I've played the older DW101 beater for years on my DW9000 pedal, and felt technique had plateau. This new hardcore beater has subtly transformed my foot for the better. It's a very well weighted beater. I'm quicker now and my double-hits are just more solid and consistent. The adjustment option between harder/softer is brilliant. This beater sets a new standard of performance. If it's good enough for Carter Beauford (who from pics used to use the Puresound beater), it's good enough for me. Worth the money. Thanks DW engineers!!

  • DW hardcore beaters

As reviewed by Ryan C. on 6/11/2009

Awesome attack. The adjustable center piece makes these surprisingly versitle. If you like intricate double bass work, these will highlight every note. Conversely, if you like a big bass drum sound, the foam area of the beater provides it. Would definitely recommend.

  • Follow-up Review

As reviewed by S.B. on 7/6/2011

Since I started using the SM105 in 2009, the steel shaft has snapped in two during a show...this has happened on two occasions with two seperate SM105s! I am not going through kick drum heads. I'm wondering if the "beater-forward" design is putting extra stresses on the shaft. I'm worried about using these beaters live... DW: uprade your steel!!
