I've used various shapes and sizes of muffling pillows over the years, and this is by far my favorite. It's just the right size to reduce any overbearing ring or overtones, and makes the kick sound nice and fat. The velcro attachments make it easy to keep the pillow from moving around inside the shell, even when it's packed up in a case. I use this pillow, plus an Evans EMAD batter head, and the combination makes the bass drum THUMP really well.
