      DW 9000PB Single Pedal (102081551)
Availability:

The latest advances in bass-pedal technology.

To create incredibly smooth, gravity-defying action, the DW 9000PB Single Pedal has a Floating Rotor that's not permanently affixed on a conventional drive shaft but is mounted on a free-floating drive shaft using friction-reducing ball bearings. In addition, the patented rotor can be adjusted using the Infinite Torque Adjustment for a variety of positions from center (Turbo-style) to eccentric (Accelerator-style), achieving the desired balance of power and precision in any playing situation. Furthermore, by moving the location of the Floating Spring from the end of the hex shaft to the center of the pedal, the vertical alignment of the moving parts is maintained and the indirect transfer and loss of energy is virtually eliminated - further optimizing the pedal's speed and power and precision.

In addition to Delta ball-bearings at the rocker, hex shaft, and hinge, the 9000 also employs friction-reducing ball-bearings in the rotor and spring connector while incorporating several of the 5000 Series' most popular upgrades such as a stackable heel plate, dual/side adjusting hoop clamp, 101 2-way beater, built-in spurs, and lightweight aluminum pedal plates and linkages. Includes deluxe Cordura bag.

  • A Substantial Piece of Drum Equipement

As reviewed by Sunday Drummer on 5/18/2010

I've been using my DW 9000 pedal for a couple of months now. The pedal is a substantial piece of drum equipment weighing in at approximately 6 lbs. The pedals are assembled in the USA with components manufactured in Taiwan and the USA. The entire assembly is mounted to a sturdy aluminum base. The underside of the base has strips of Velcro, which does an excellent job of adhering the pedal to a low pile drum rug. There are two angled spurs to further anchor the pedal, however I find the spurs are not needed when using a drum rug as the Velcro is very sticky. The pedal's operation is extremely quite, smooth and responsive. To me there is a nice weighted feel when my foot is pulled back far enough to see the dw logo and the 9 or part of the 9 on the footboard. If you typically allow yourself to to get used to default settings when you buy something, out of the box this pedal feels pretty good. If your constantly tweaking with settings trying to get that perfect feel, then this pedal might keep you busy as there are many available adjustments and many settings within each adjustment. The bass drum hoop clamp can be adjusted so the angle of the pinch can accommodate different hoop thicknesses. The actual opening and closing of the clamp shoots out to the right side allowing for easy access, not having to mess around underneath the footboard to clamp or remove the pedal. Out of the box the pedal is equipped with a double chain. There is also a nylon strap for players who prefer that. I haven't tried the nylon strap. From what I have read the nylon drive system allows for a more relaxed, floating pedal feel. One of the adjustments I found complex is the torque adjustment. From the factory the pedal is set to the eccentric torque position (referring to the manual to remember this stuff). Eccentric = increased speed and sensitivity. A concentric adjustment can be made as well. Concentric = powerful and consistent feel. The book suggests concentric for general purpose playing. There is a lot of in-between on these settings. I have mine set somewhere in the middle. Other adjustments to be made are the footboard angle and stroke distance. The heel platform can also be elevated, however this requires the purchase of a DW Pedal Customizing Kit. The stock heel platform is 3/4" from the floor. I play heel-up and never rest down one the heel platform when I'm playing. The pedal has a 5-year limited warranty. Cast parts are covered moving parts are not. One thing to consider about the DW 9000 is it cannot be converted to a double-pedal set-up. If you have no interest in a double-pedal or want a solid dedicated single, of the choices out there this is nice option in my opinion. I really like the sturdy feel of this pedal. The footboard only moves two ways, down and up. There isn't any side to side play or that swinging hammock feel I have experienced with a more entry level pedal. Also, used in conjunction with a drum rug the kick drum doesn't budge (at least not in my applications).

  • DW9000 - Don't leave home without it!

As reviewed by Rick S on 12/20/2006

DW9000 ? don?t leave home without it. I currently own an older DW5000 accelerator w/delta bearing. This pedal being vintage 1995 worked OK, but I always seemed to fight it. No matter how I set it up, I was never able to gain the feel I wanted. I did manage to tone muscle, but never got smoothness or blazing speed. I was considering an Iron Cobra double pedal as I had played one and liked how smooth it felt. It also seemed relatively easy to control. The rep at the Guitar Center suggested the DW9000. Needles to say, I was struck by how fluid and smooth and effortless it was to play. I was really impressed to learn that DW finally got it right. Save up your change for this one cause it?s expensive and if you purchase any other pedal, you will be doing yourself and injustice. Thanks to DW for the never ending pursuit of perfection and to the Joe @ the Guitar Center (Blackstone Valley, MA) for the foresight to recommend the best. Rick S

  • Worth every penny...

As reviewed by Moda on 6/18/2007

It's really hard to describe how amazing this pedal really is. You HAVE to try it for yourself. I used Iron Cobra Rolling Glide double pedals for a couple months and tried a 9000...wow, thats all i could say at the moment. So i returned the IC's and got a single Dw 9000PB. The 9000 double pedal is also amazing but it still has a slave pedal, so it's not going to feel the same. That's why im adding another kick to my kit. But seriously, before you buy a pedal TRY THE DW 9000PB, YOU'LL THANK ME!!
