Sunbeam Phosphor Bronze Strings feature round core construction for remarkable sustain. The tone does not decay as it does with other phosphor bronze strings that seem to sustain in a straight line until the sound falls off. Sunbeam acoustics are musically bright, rich sounding, and very flexible.

These were recommended to a friend of mine by the Local Guitar Center when he bought his new acoustic. I liked them so much that I grabbed some for myself a few days later and they work great on my acoustic as well. When it came time to replace them, the local GC was out of stock so I tried some different strings... but the DRs were better so when it came time for new strings again AND the local was out of light sunbeams AGAIN i tried a different kind of DR strings...they were pretty decent. Well... these must be a favorite among a lot of other people as well because the local GC was out of stock a third time (reps say they just keep selling out) I came online to order some. Looking forward to finally getting these strings again.
Been thinking about new strings for my Tak and wasn't sure what to get. Tried Elixir Custom Light Phosphor Bronze Nanaos...way too bright. Tried Elixir Custom Light 80/20 Poly... OK, but shed like a snake!!! Tried Dean Markley Alchemy...too much finger noise and they hurt like heck!!! Enter the DR Sunbeams...opened the package and what's this??? Instructions on "How to install round wound strings" there's a "flat spot" on the string??? Says you gotta install these differently "with a crimp" so the string doesn't come unwound. Other reviewers must have missed this. They are bright, but not overly so...Plenty of volume too. Well balanced tone...easier on the fingers...inspiring to play...GREAT !!! Sometimes you gotta read the instructions...Could not be HAPPIER with these strings...Glad I got two sets !!!
I bought two sets of these and on both sets a string came unwound. I've never had that happen on any guitar before or since. The first time it happened on the E and the second time on the D string. Each time, the string gave a buzzing sound, and upon further inspection I found that the winding of the string would slide up to an inch up and down the string. It had become completely loose and, needless to say, worthless. I won't be buying DR strings ever again.
if you don't care about playing some meaty power chords on your acoustic which I tend to do, then by all means, get these strings, they sound crisp and metallic and super lame. If you at all enjoy playing the low "e" string then don't ever get these strings. They are not for you.
