Overview

Gauge 09-11-16-24-32-42.

Pure Blues electric guitar strings from DR Strings are designed with pure nickel wrap wire, roundwound upon round cores. While this is a slow, expensive method of string making, it does produce a guitar string acclaimed for increased sustain, vintage tone, and great low tones for playing rhythm to lead. The extra step of winding pure nickel around a round core give Pure Blues strings a punch that players say they are surprised to get in a vintage string. Sounds great on any guitar!

I've been playing since the seventies and still have a Dean Markley sticker on my 78 LP case. I've been playing Ernie Balls for years and tried DR Blues last year. Everything they say about these is true. They are the most comfortable strings I've ever played. The tone is rich, not tinny like EBs. They have that broken in feel right away. One note: The first time I installed them I got rattle on the E and A but since I have followed the instructions on proper installation they are a dream to play and hear.

These are by far the most comfortable strings I have ever played. The have an amazing blues sound and super easy to bend (with great precision). Unfortunately, the high E and B strings just don't last. Generally I get about a week of playing in (roughly 12 hours) and one of them will pop. Today the high E broke just while strumming. Perhaps a larger gauge would be more durable, but I'm to the point of switching back to a nickel-plated alternative.

These strings rock the house. I have them on my Epi dot and my Fender Tele and they sound awesome! Easy bending sliding and all that jazz. The produce a rich tone that has an edge to it. Great for any style.

These strings work best on my Jacksons. They sound great, bend easily and stay strong even after a few dives with the floyd. By far the best strings I've ever used.

Great strings

By john

Comments about DR Strings PHR9 Pure Blues Nickel Light Electric Guitar Strings:

I have an eppiphone dot that only likes these strings. I play the blues and these strings sound great on any guitar I put them on (dot, les pual, or strat through 65 twin reissue). I also use the heavier guadge 9-46 and I like them too. I love the vintage tone and how I can bend, bend, bend and they are always ready.

VINTAGE, REAL VINTAGE TONE

By Antonio Solorio

from Hou, TX

Comments about DR Strings PHR9 Pure Blues Nickel Light Electric Guitar Strings:

This strings claim their name. They are for blues or to get that SRV tone. I was sceptic that strings could make the difference (thought pickups did everything) but I tried these ones in my Epiphone SG and WOW; great sustain and tone!

Pure Blues rule at existance

By Logan Craine

from Tulsa OK

Comments about DR Strings PHR9 Pure Blues Nickel Light Electric Guitar Strings:

I have used these strings for a while. I went to a pawn shop and the guy there suggested these for my playing style. I play alot of late 60's-70's rock and blues, mostly but i also play at church. I have a Gibson les paul studio. These strings are awesome for what i play, but do very good on more modern styles like the church music I play. I have also tryed the dean markleys, and they sound good too, but they dont last as long and arent quite as bright. They just always sound good, and every time i change them i am surprised at the quality of sound. P.S. they dont pop like that one guy said if you have any idea how to put on your strings right.
