low action and balanced sound

By

from Binghamton, NY

Comments about DR Strings Nickel Medium Lo-Riders 4-String Bass Strings:

I have tried EB Slinkys (good), D'Addario Chromes (great if you like flats), GHS Boomers (good, a little thin sounding), DR Hi Beams (good, a lot of treble), Dean Markley Blue Steel (just ok). The DR Lo Riders are the best of the bunch for what I wanted which was low action, good midrange and balanced sound through all of the strings. I was able to set my action very low (thanks to the hexagonal shaped core from what I hear) with no fret buzz. These also produced the least amount of "clank" of all the roundwounds I have tried. They do produce more midrange than any rounds I have used which is what I like. If you like your midrange scooped out try the Hi Beams or 'steel' Lo Riders. My new favorite string - highly recommend!
