Hi-Beam stainless steel bass strings are round wound and constructed upon a round core, which is unique in the industry. Hi-Beams require much more time, care, and extra steps to make than other bass strings. The extra effort DR expends making Hi-Beams results in a bass string that is highly flexible, musically bright (not harshly bright) and renowned for durability, unusually long life, consistency, and string-to-string balance. They don't eat your frets.

I have used DR string exclusively since 1992. I worked in music retail then, and was playing all over the region, and could have used any string I wanted. The DR people sent me a complimentary set, and I've never touched another string. Brilliant sound, and they hold standard tuning at lower tensions for the utmost in playability. I've used these for over 20 years, and I will never use another string.
Great strings. The price is a lot but you wont regret it. For me, playing in a few bands, the last thing i want to think about is the strings im using. Ive been playing for 3 years and started out using ernie ball strings. Nothing against them, but i always love that new string feel and sound but after a while the ernie ball strings died. Someone told me to try these string and ive never looked back. The strings come out of the pack feeling great, when i string them on, they fell tight and not floppy like other kinds of strings. The sound is great because i get that bright crisp sound out of them even after a month. I dont down tune that much but when i do these thing roar and stay tight unlike other strings. (if you only play in a tuning lower than Drop D i would tell you to try the DR DDT strings) over all great strings and i would never use any other brand.
I've been playing bass guitar for about 6 months and these were the first strings I ever replaced the original strings with. I play my bass between 1-3 hours a day and these kept the sound they had when I first put them on my bass for about two months. Which seemed reasonably good to me because while I don't do too much extra-deep drop tuning, I do change tunings and mess around with different tunings quite often, so the strings, particularly the E, are constantly being adjusted. They felt really good even after a lot of use and didn't wear down the frets. I really don't have anything that I can compare it to, as i've never used another brand, but I was very happy with these.
