When I first started playing guitar I used Ernie Ball strings, but after using Dr Strings nothing else compares. You won't get any better than DR Strings they last longer than most strings, they keep the same tone no matter how long you use them, and there overall sound quality is perfect for any kind of music, rock, blues, or classical DR Strings are perfect. I won't trust any other strings on my B.C. Rich.
I never used DR strings in my life until this guy gave me a free pack and told me check these strings out. Once I tried them I loved them, the sound and quality, these strings last forever I've had them for a last two months and they play and sound brand new. Check DR strings out they rock.
I played D'Addario for the last 10 years (still like em') but needed something to smooth out my bright tone. I play a PRS Custom 24 through a Mesa Boogie Mark V, and it was a little harsh. These strings darkened things up a little and although I still have a bright tone, it's a little more balanced. The thing that impressed me was how these strings hardly have a stretch in phase. They stayed in tune pretty much from the get-go. They seem to last long, but I always make sure to wash my hands before I play, so all of my strings last long. They also feel good to bend. A buddy of mine thought I had 9's on my guitar because they played so nice, when in reality they were 10's. However, they can account for more than just strings. (set-up, frets, ETC).
The edge over D'addario is definitely the stretch in time. D'addario need tuned a few times even with proper stretching. These you don't even need to pre-stretch and they stay in tune very well.
