I have bought these strings twice, once the black beauties and once the silver stars. In the first pack (the black beauties) I ahve two strings break just while putting them on my guitar and in the second pack I also had two strings break. I have changed strings countless time so I know it wasn't something I did. These things suck, don't waste your money.
I have loved DR Strings since I have started using them. I tried numerous brands, but none compare to the DR's. The Black Beauties are coated, which gives them more slickness so you can pull off aggressive slides with ease, the tone is outstanding, and above all is the ultra long life. I play every day for at least 3 hours and these strings will still last me a month. But the best part is that they are black. The only problem I have had with these strings is that the black comes off where I pick, but they are still the best strings I have ever used.
I recently bought my first pack of DR Strings BKE-9 Black Beauties. These are coated strings, meaning they last longer and protect against dirt and grime. I slapped these on my Strat, and they are incredible! They are very easy to bend, and super smooth for fast sliding.
Tone-wise, I was impressed with these strings. They are nice and bright, and have good sustain. They don't have the richest tone, and if you're looking for that, you should probably get the DR Tite-Fits. Also, these strings fall out of tune more often than the Tite-Fits.
Best of all, these strings look sick! They are really black, and look wonderful. They are pricey, but well worth it if you want the amazing look and feel they provide. These strings last a very long time, so you might actually save money in the long run.
